I just bought a new desktop and its really fast so I decided to install Call of duty 4 on it. After I installed it and started playing it started lagging. And for the video card it says 256mb of video ram and up to 3067MB total available as allocated by Windows 7. What does that mean and do I have to allocate it or does windows 7 automatically allocate it because if the maximum is up to 3067MB then it shouldn't be lagging. How do I get it to allocate more ram to the graphics card?

I'm not sure what that means. However the best way to get better gaming performance is to upgrade your graphics card. Measuring a card's performance by how much memory it has is terrible. Do you know what video card you have? Also updating the video drivers is a good way to get better performance as well. I can help you with that once you find out what you have.

Oh, but should it still have a slot for a video card? Which video card is good but for a cheap price? And how hard is it to put in a new video card because I have never opened up a desktop before?

680$

halogamer2145
hmm well you probably could have gotten one that had a video card in it for that price. Well to play games on that desktop you'll probably have to upgrade your power supply since the pre-builts desktop power supplies usually don't come with high wattages. Also you'll need a video card of course. So I can help you if you give me a tentative budget :)

How hard would it be for me to build my own? I never opened up a desktop but I know where everything goes. Do I have to solder anything or is it just ordering parts and screwing them in? And how hard would it be for me to install water cooling?

Why would you want water cooling? Are you planning some major overclocking?

I believe so. Just install the graphics card and it will cancel the integraded one out so it'll be like it never existed. Or so I've heard. What card do you want?

it has an extra PCI Express x16 slot. Is that what graphics cards need? What is a good cheap graphics card that will play Modern Warfare 2 smoothly?
