Dude he can run any game he wants at max with good framerates it's the resolutions that will lower his performance 1900x1200 and such is pretty tough on crysis.

well, I don't know how powerful the 1GB ram version of 9800GT is...but if even GTX2800 has difficulty really maxing every game out at the highest resolution possible (2560x1600), your card is the weak link (based on your objective of every maxed that is).

then, what's the point of all those ram (4GB system + 1 GB GPU)? windows xp/vista 32 bit can only utilize about total of 3.25 GB of ram. you need to move on to vista 64 to take adventage of all those ram.

I don't think there is a performance difference vs 512mb one all ram is really used for higher resolution gaming 2560x1600 is a bit to much the 512vs1gig at 1900 1200 might be a different stroy then. The GTX280 has no issue running games at hgihest settings on anything just the resolution and Forced AA16x on games like Unreal engine that gets ya. I had a pentium D and a 8800GTS I played crysis maxed on high and 4X AA (Yes 4 x) smooth through the entire game with only miner chops now a core 2 duo 8500/8600 is the best gaming CPU on the market and the 8800GT/9800GT/9600GT is way better then 8800GTS so I think these benchmarks are bull****

well, full maxed actually includes AA. most non-unreal 3 engine games have in-game AA option. Since I play most recent games at 2560x1600, that's not too much, that's just what I based on to judge card performance.

and GPU ram amount does matter, however, it needs good memory bus widith to make an impact on gaming at high resoultions. 9800GT has the same 256bit bus as 9800 GTX and 8800GT/GTS...it's 1 GB ram isn't going to make much difference from the 512 version. GTX280 is a different story with 512bit bus.

I replayed Crysis after I got GTX280, and runs quite smoothly everything very high (without AA of course) at 2560x1600 for most of the first few levels, and only the boat-snow cut scene slows down. that's a pretty remarkable feat.

Then if he wants to run Crysis all maxed out at 1920*1200 because that's his life dream I guess I am right to say he can't but will come close.

i wouldn't be surprised if he can max out crysis too. of course, framerates will probably be in the teens, but max out is max out.

i played crysis on 10-20 fps before i upgraded, and it was hardly a slide show. in fact, it was very much playable.

No. You'll run Crysis at about 1280x1024, all high settings. Should manage max or close to max settings in all other games, though.

Yeah, well, that's just you, Cliffe. I have relatively slightly lower framerate expectations than the typical gamer (will tolerate a minimum of 20-ish), and even I wouldn't play a game with those frames. Slideshow, no (not literally); unplayable, yes, at least for me and most other people.

My PC is worse than that and I can easily run Crysis maxed out with 65 FPS, so you should be able to.
