hi guys i just bought and downloaded crysis 1 for 13$ from steam

There are lots of youtube videos that will show you what Crysis is supposed to look like. Are you saying that the game looks nothing like that, or are you simply saying that the game failed to live up to your expectations?

Maybe you saw videos of Crysis running with a mod, and the game running without mods doesn't look as nice to you?

okay go hit f11 while in game somewhere and then it should generate a photo on your steam account. upload it to the cloud once you exit game and then you can copy its url via a right click and post here. like a normal web image. like so:

Crysis is great looking but is showing its age in some areas. Try Crysis 2. It bumps the quality of Crysis' weaker points up.

Crysis looks amazing, get some good mods, imo with the right mods it looks better then Crysis2 in some ways.

It looks about right, the only problem is your performance, it should be a lot better, the quality of Crysis 1 can be raised several times through mods, start looking for HD texture packs and such (some textures on vanilla Crysis are almost terrible).

I don't think the OP is giving us the entire story. My rig stats are in the sig and I'm running at 1920x1080 with every setting at max except for AA (x4) and motion blur (medium).

If those visuals don't appease the OP, then I feel sorry for the guy because he'll never be satisfied.

Yeah my bad Mr Perfect, i thought the picture "ionusX" posted was from the steam link "EyiAtSteam" provided.

OP maybe you should try some mods but i don't know why you think it looks like counter strike.

Try mods, they look better and boost performance most of the time.

The beginning of the game is mostly at night, advance a bit in the game to see how the larger scenes look in broad daylight. You'll be amazed.

Download CCC 2.21 custom config and install lvl 6 with the custom tod it improves the graphics and performance quite a bit from vannilla settings. Also try using a post proccesing aa like fxaa or mlaa instead of the built in msaa as it works on jaggies altough if you install this custom config and turn the msaa to 0 it turns on edge detect aa that which works on the foliage at the cost of some sharpness. Here pics of lvl 5 crysis and warhead running on my pc with the custom tod. Its running in dx9 at 1920x01080 and getting 27-40fps on my 5770 1gb. Depening on the level.

Go here and download the installer for the custom config http://incrysis.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=23117 You just need to point it to your crysis install location which for steam should be C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\crysis or C:\Program Files(86)\Steam\steamapps\common\crysis for 64 bit os and it guides you through the steps just go for lvl 6 since you have way more then enough gpu power and make sure to install the tod files avoid the difficulty/ai tweaks. To run in dx9 since its steam go to your steam library and on crysis right click and go to set launch options and add -dx9 altough with a gtx 680 I think you should leave it to dx10. The reason your lagging is cause your running it at vannila very high and with 8x MSAA with the custom config and turning the AA in the game options to zero(The config uses crysis built in edge detect AA that works on foliage) you should perform alot better and you can use object motion blur which makes a big diffrence in the way the game looks in motion and only works properly in dx10 in dx9 you can enable it but glitches on aliens and people wearing nano suits.

Crysis locks itself to a 24 fps lagfest at 1080p with vsync enabled if you use a television instead of a monitor specifically built for PC. You will have to go into your nvidia/ati control panel and add a custom resolution to fix this.

I'm not sure of the exact steps since I don't have the drivers in front of me, but google will help if you're not familiar with how to use your drivers and change settings.

if that's what crysis is i really am disappointed , i thought it would be like mind blowing like i could get an "eyegarsm", ohh well my 13$ might as well buy shogun 2 T_T btw, at very high setting my gtx 680 gets low fps, what is wrong with this game?? while at max setting witcher 2 (w/o ubersampling) gets around 60 fpsEyiAtSteam

those images you posted don't look too bad. try modding it as others have said.

don't forget with crysis the graphics are the icing on the cake. the real beauty of the game is the huge sandbox like levels and myriad of options you have to get from a to b.

if you're looking for a change from the mass of brainless, linear corridor shooters that infest the market then you'll love crysis

Back on topic - If you want good looking games, check these out.

• Battlefield 3.
• The Witcher 2 (which I think you've already played ^^ )
• Skyrim (With hd texture pack and other aesthetic enhancing mods).
• Total War Shogun 2.

They're all pretty stunning (visually). About Crysis, it came out in 2007 - It's a 5 year old game, and it still has amazing graphics compared to alot of recent releases.
