Hitman 2 inconsistent startup

Hey guys, So the problem is that when I initially put the CD in for Hitman 2 and push "play", it comes up with a cd icon for a few seconds and grays out selection options, then does nothing and goes back to the initial startup screen. Then push play again and same thing happens again and again.

The thing is, about once every 4-5 tries using the shortcut and the cd load screen it works and the game runs 100%.

I've also tried on my girlfriends laptop and it does the exact same thing. I also have the latest patch.

So if anyone has any ideas how to fix this, that would be great as it is quite frustrating.

Try to clean the disk, if it fails find a no CD patch/crack, shouldn't be that hard.

So I unistalled the game completely, reinstalled with disc and made sure my directx was up to date.
I really don't know what else to try. Luckily, the game will run 1/10 tries or so, but that is a pain.

If anyone has any other ideas on what to try, let me know.

EDIT: As a follow up, I figured out the problem. It has to do with the CD security software (secuRom). Let's just say a certain tool is needed to play the game without a CD ;)
