so I have a 1920x1080 monitor (its my Pioneer Elite PRO-111FD and is connected via HDMI) and if I pick a 16x9 resolution I get black bars all around my screen WTF! is going on here! - I have a 1920x1080 screen but any of the 16x9 resolutions all give me black bars on all sides of the picture 16x10 works fine but my TV is 16x9 not 16x10 I have the ATI 4850 so its not that old and everything is up to date

A lot of games launch in Windowed mode, I've seen Assassin's Creed 1, Crysis and Warhead, Far Cry 2 and BF BC2 do it before just to name a few. What fixes it for me is ALT+ENTER, then it will switch to fullscreen mode. Some games are fine after that and will launch full screen from then on, some need the setting re-enabled in the options settings or ini files, etc. Hope that helps.

no I am not talking about windowed mode I am talking about black lines on all sides of the picture - I can change it to windowed mode or the not full screen one in the settings and actually get more of it on screen I dont understand the problem, I bought this game but I also downloaded a copy off the internet for free thats cracked and it has the same problem I have had this problem with just about all the games I have - Crysis 1 and the expansion for it warhead I think it was called - I cant even get these to run at 1920x1080, there is no option for that res in the menu

Are you playing on a tv or a computer monitor? I can't tell because you call it a monitor, tv, and screen. Most computer monitors are 16x10 so if you play in a 16x9 resolution without scaling, it will have black bars on the sides.

its on a Pioneer Elite PRO-111FD the computer is connected via HDMI and set to 1920x1080 at 72Hz - I have also set it to 60hZ but it accepts it at 72Hz so I select that because it looks nicer for text and stuff its a native 1920x1080 16x9 or 1.78:1 aspect ratio but a computer monitor thats 16x10 wouldnt be 1920x1080, it would be 1920x1200 or 1680x1050 also I am a ISF engineer so I know displays and aspect ratios

Does the Windows desktop look right at that resolution setting? Does it all fit on the screen right? Unfortunately, I don't have my pc hooked up to a 1080p tv, but if the windows desktop is working correctly, and I had to guess on a problem, I'd suggest looking at the screen resolution and scaling options in the catalyst control center and make sure it's set to the same as your tv in there. Knowing the other things I've seen in Homefront though, I wouldn't be too surprised if they messed up on that though.

yea the windows desktop looks fine - it goes all to the edge and i have set the overscan to 0% (those stupid ATI people put overscan controls in the worst place) and the display at dot-by-dot

nope its not fixed - are you seeing the same problem with this game - can you connect your computer up to a 1920x1080 display and see what it does? the exact amount of blackness that there is around the screen is exactly the same as when the overscan is not set properly in CCC - BUT I HAVE IT SET TO 0%! - its the same as if its set to 15% underscan but I havent set it to that its as if the game is ignoring the whole overscan/underscan that the ATI CCC is doing

I have the same problem and I fiddled with the CCC and found that if i unchecked the box that said "enable GPU scaling" under the "My digital flat panels" and then goto the "properties digital flat panels" and uncheck the "Enable GPU scaling" box. The game still started in windowed mode but when i changed it to full screen and hit apply I did'nt get the black boarders anymore.

Hope this helps

Hi There, I had it with my LG42LCD 1080p TV while I was using a HDMI to HDMI cable the screen was about 1 to 1.5 inch smaller now I bought a DVI-D to HDMI cable and the TV is giving me a full screen however when I was playing games it was getting smaller again but what you need to do is go to your G card settings and (I forgot this bit) look for a small monitor picture that has an option to tick the box to enable full screen mode and yor screen should be maxed. I also changed my TV settings from 16:9 to an option called just screen. hope this helped.
