[QUOTE="scoobiesnackarf"][QUOTE="kieranb2000"][QUOTE="scoobiesnackarf"][QUOTE="kieranb2000"]No you complained four times that if EA bought Valve then Steam would suffer.

So if it's such a stupid argument, why not give me reasons why it wouldn't happen?
Alan
It wouldn't happen because
a) Valve KNOW that Steam is a major platform for downloading games on the PC, and they wouldn't let EA ruin it.
b) EA KNOW that Steam is a major platform for downloading games on the PC, and they would do everything they could not to ruin it.
c) Valve isn't being bought by EA.
There are three reason's. Now shush and stop repeating the same thing over and over.
1. If ValvE were to sell to EA, ValvE wouldn't be in the business to tell the new owner how to ruin their new top prize.
2. You assume EA actually is concerned with not turning Steam users away. If this were true, EA would change their own service to bring in new users, i.e. not putting time limits on the games you purchase. EA has shown time and again they are not necessarily concerned about keeping customers happy...
3. Because no big successful company has ever sold out to another bigger company... oh wait...
Alan
Ugh.
1) If Valve were to sell up to EA they would almost definately not be stupid enough to give EA full control over everything to do with Steam.
2) I think you have mixed EA up with Ubisoft here. Recently, with EA's latest aquisitions they have given developers all the time they need to make their consumers happy. Pandemic, for example, has delayed Mercenaries 2 several times SINCE EA purchased them. EA would not screw up a good thing. If Steam makes money, they would not break it and push away the current consumer base just for fun.
3) Show me where it says Valve is being bought out by EA? The article says the Valve are willing to negotiate an aquisition, but dont plan on it any time soon.
I didn't say EA would buy out ValvE as that would be impossible since they are a privately owned company. ValvE did say they were interested in discussing as you said an aquisition. Regarding your other points, I agree, unfortunately many times we have seen companies acting foolish and because of their lack of understanding what a customer actually is, they make a stupid decision and push the customers away. While I would hope EA wouldn't change Steam, I wouldn't put it past them or any other big corporation. I wish I had your optimism.
