Hi, Can any one tell me how I can reset the BIOS password on a HP a1610n. Or do u think it was set by hp and they have a commen password. No one laugh i dont no crap...lol....Thanks Shannon

Unplug the computer and remove the battery from the motherboard for a few days.

Unplug the computer and remove the battery from the motherboard for a few days.

You dont need to do it for days.... a half an hour will do it....

Half an hour? I've always heard 10-15 seconds. Either way your MB may have jumpers rather than having to remove the battery, consult your manual.

Half an hour? I've always heard 10-15 seconds. Either way your MB may have jumpers rather than having to remove the battery, consult your manual.

10-15 seconds is just a quick reset, to remove passwords, you have to wait until the capacitors discharge which takes time

i seen a process and how to move the jumpers but im not comfortable on doing that method...thanks

Just going off experience. The last time I had to do it though was around a decade ago.

Sometimes you could drain the capacitors by flipping the (analog) switch on with the power supply unplugged.
