how do i dual boot xp and vista

hey i have a laptop (dell inspiron 6400) and i want to set it up to dual boot xp and vista. the laptop has two hdds and i want to set it up so xp is on one and vista is on the other. is there any specific way to do this? im installing both clean

you install XP first, then you install vista.

After that it will ask you which to boot. If you then get a app called vista boot pro, you can change the boot preferences.

lnstall on differnt portions or another drive I do the same thing on my desktop

if you have vista on it already DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL XP YET!

search microsoft.com, i think theres an article on how to do it specifically. you will get boot errors if you try it the regular way. vista uses a different boot method.

but if you hav XP on it already, just instal from inside XP and you should be fine

We covered this here yesterday. Run a search. There was a link to a web site with the full procedure. I don't recommend Vista for gamers at present, however. For it to be ready, I have to test how well SP-1 fixes the many things that are wrong first, then I'll make a fresh judgment.
