I just got a new everything, new case, CPU, motherboard, rams, etc..... I need to BIOS, but first, I have to "boot up" my PC an order to do the bios. But how, where do I get the "bootable disk"? I heard, I can boot with a floppy bootable disk, but where can I get it? Anyone knows?

- Case: Ultra Aluminus 12 bays, 550Watts Power supply, Asus motherboard SLI ready, P4 3.20 Hyper Treading, Ultra CPU fan, 2 Gig rams, Geforce 8600GT, 160G HDD.......

- Thanks in advance for helpin'!

Usually you start up your computer, and you hit a certain button on your keyboard. It's usually DEL or F12. Look in the manual. Go into bios and check to see all da parts are recognized and set boot order to CD-ROM, HD, Floppy. Save, exit, and pop in your windows cd. Follow the instructions. Next time you boot up, change the boot order back to HD, CD-ROM, Floppy, so the computer won't be searching for the Bootable Windows CD everytime.

Well, your motherboard manual should explicitly state in the BIOS section which key to press.

and np.

During your initial boot up it should say what button to press to get into the BIOS.  It usually at the top or bottom.

Ok, do you have your ASUS motherboard manual?

That's the first place you should look.

The motherboard manual instructions says press and hold PAGE UP and or PAGE DOWN, I did that, still nothing's on....also, the keyboard has no lights on, and it's not even a fancy one(no disk required). maybe the graphics card, but the card has fn spinning.

I dont really know what else to do??!!

If you're not getting any activity other than the fans spinning, double check all of your connections.  On a first time boot, only boot with the bare minimum (CPU, 1 stick of RAM, MOBO, 1 GFX CARD, 1 hard drive, keyboard, mouse, and monitor).  If it still doesn't work, take out the battery from the motherboard for a few minutes and pop it back in.

Is your PCI-E motherboard connector inserted properly, or even better yet, is it the right one?

I have had trouble booting before with a USB keyboard. Try using a standard PS/2 keyboard.

for me to get into BIOS i have to hit F2.  F8 is also another common key.  right after you turn on the computer just keep hitting F2 or whatever button you think it may be.  you might be waiting to long.

In case you remove the battery from the motherboard, don't forget to put the clear CMOS jumper in the correct position and remove the power plug before doing all that, otherwise your just wasting your time.

LOL. I know exactly how you feel, and I had to get my motherboard repared once cuz I busted 3 pins.... Man, It was hard even tho it's not all that hard, it's just have to be patient. People here at GameSpot helped alot, it's worth it to hangout at this site, now Ive always been on this site more than any sites out there.

Hey, if someone else post for this kind of helps then I'd know  what and how to help them out, just like youguys helping me.....Peace.

Hey, sorry I wasn't here man. Glad to see you got everything to work. I'm still kinda perplexed by the Asus floppy BIOS, because all the motherboards I have used have keys to go into BIOS...well, I'm happy for ya. Have fun with your computer.

How many motherboards have you used?..... I now have 3, by accident, cuz 1st I got a PCchips(cheap AGP) and it has only 20 pins ATX power(my power supply got 24 pins plug), so that's why I got this Asus with 24 pins(nice for gaming PCI E). also I still have an old motherboard from a Dell PC(not used at the moment). and I have a laptop too.....Dang, I now have too many computers!

- I just wanna say, the next time I wont get an ASUS mb anymore..... an Abit, Intel, XFX, anything but Asus!

Just make sure you change it back to HDD after installing, because if you keep CD in boot order 1, then the computer will always search for the CD, then boot. It takes longer.
