So I bought the F310 controller because I thought it would be just like a PS3 controller. It is very much the same way as a playstation controller would be. My question is, I have been playing xbox live for 6 years and now I switched over to PC gaming. The community is just plain better. I still have xbox live and will play halo and COD on the xbox 360 off and on. Anyways, over the last 6 years on xbox live my K/D ratio is a .65 which to most is really bad.

I play for fun and now that I have switched to PC for a little bit, it has went down to a .27 using the F310 controller. I know its not the controllers fault, but my crappy gameplay methods. Anyone have any advice for a newb new to PC gaming especially Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on the PC. I would really like some tips from the pros. Also Anyone use the F310 controller gamepad? What is your setup if I may add.

Get a decent mouse, too. I mean, you can get by with a basic 10 dollar optical mouse, but you'd be better off with something like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104318

Mouse and Keyboard. You really can't play PC FPSs on a competitive level with a controller. Especially since youre in a clan now. Thats the reason why you get a lower KDR. Its not the game, you or the controller, those to you havent changed. Rather its the fact that everyone else isn't using a controller.

I've used a controller all my life so i don't know if i can get used to the keyboard and mouse aspect. I am also playing Hardcore and am used to the radar. My clan likes to play without the radar.

The problem is that you're crippled compared to all the other players. You simply can't compete against moderately skilled M&KB players with a controller.

Using a controller is fine for single player games, but in PC multiplayer you're going to find it extremely hard because you simply won't have the fast response time and accuracy needed to survive. The majority of players will be using a mouse, which gives you that speed and accuracy, so you are immediately at a disadvantage.

What you must also realise is that on console titles, even when playing multiplayer there is some amount of 'aim assist' built into the game to enable you to hit opponents. Any dev will tell you this. But on PC, that aim assist is gone, so you must be even more accurate with your shots. Even then, sometimes due to latency issues, shots might not register as you think they should.

I can only advise you as others already have - you need to get used to gaming with a mouse for PC multiplayer. And practice, practice, practice.

Same here. My first 10 years or so of gaming were strictly consoles and handhelds. It didn't take very long to adapt to mouse and keyboard. Now, I enjoy both.

A common question and one I asked myself when I switched over to PC this year. And the answer really is just practice. I immersed myself in BC2 for like a month solid and now im pretty good with a mouse and keyboard. Now I find it much better than a controller.

Just play as much as you can. different games will get you used to different sensitivities and you will get more accustomed to the new movements. After you play for a while you will know what feels good and what feels bad and know what you like

Yeah I am just going to practice with the controller I guess. My K/D ratio will suck even if I play it for 6 years like I have xbox live. It's just a matter of memorizing the maps, using cover, and making sure I don't run out everywhere. Hopefully I can get better. Any other tips?

I think you should swap back to Keyboard and mouse, I think they are better suited for PC.

(like said above)^

Practice,

learn the maps (where people tend to camp, etc),

learn which weapons work well in a given situation.

Oh yeah, and you are at a bad disadvantage if you aren't using keyboard and mouse.
