I use CamStudio, because it's free and fully functional.
Although the full version of FRAPs is better.
EDIT: video camera = no. pretty awful quality for that kind of thing.
Fraps works well, but you can also use Xfire because it supports recording and automatic upload to your Xfire account online. It's pretty nice.
VirtualDub is free, and it works well for re-recording & compression. I use it to redo Fraps so I can upload them.I use CamStudio, because it's free and fully functional.

Never tried it out yet, but since i don't want to buy fraps, im going to use the xfire built in one. Unless it's bad. Not sure.RedxSniper
You don't have to buy it. They offer a Free Version as well as the Full Version.

The free version you can only record like what 60secs? before it stops? no i think its like 30 secs.[QUOTE="topsemag55"][QUOTE="RedxSniper"]Never tried it out yet, but since i don't want to buy fraps, im going to use the xfire built in one. Unless it's bad. Not sure.RedxSniper

The free version you can only record like what 60secs? before it stops? no i think its like 30 secs. The Full Version of Fraps is only $37. That's cheaper than some new games that go for $50 up to $99 (for collector's editions). That's less than 6 hours of working if you make minimum wage. It isn't like your buying AutoCAD for hundreds of dollars: $37 is very reasonable.

And xfire works fine for me, so i dont see any reason to spend $37 when what i use now works perfectly fine.

If you can't afford it, then don't buy it. simple.I record my gameplay in my brain. If I screw up on something, I remember not to do it again and I improve. I personally don't need a video to watch of how I play and screw up to help fix things....
But if you want to record your games, I suppose the only program I know of is FRAPS. I have never used it, so I don't know if it's good or not. I'm sure there are plenty of other programs out there that can record your gameplay, but FRAPS is the only one I know about.
