I've posted before, I'm building a PC around the gt 9800 1GB and was thinking of THIS CPUthis would be for just a gaming PC, no crysis no gTA4. Just games like Fallout 3, dragon age, aion things like that.

Maybe OC this CPU for 3.4+ or so, how would this CPU fair?

I would look into AMD and get a quad core cpu for around $100. Then going with Intel C2D

Hmm, but I heard core 2 duo is better for games than just 4 core.

I'm a little confused, I heard like since a lot of games don't support 4 core it's better to have 2 core. IDK can you set it straight for me?

Buying into LGA 775 is like buying a PS2. They are both dead platforms now.

well you can look for an Amd Cpu based on AM3 socket or an intel i3 CPu that sits on intels new platforms Its true that if you go with the intel i3 you will probably get a bit more performance boost in games nowdays but by going for a bit slower quad core you will make your system more future proof as more and more programs and games that take advantage of quad cores appear

The phenom 2's are near intel i7 gaming performance at high resolutions. All you need to do is buy an AM2+ or AM3 mothermoard and a Athlon II X4 630 or 635 and you will walk in circles around that E7500 with all 4 cores going.

Keep in mind that cpu you selected is an OEM which means it has no cpu cooler. And yes that bundle I posted will have no issue with any game. But you might want to get GTS 250 its alittle faster then a 9800GT. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133266&cm_re=gts_250-_-14-133-266-_-Product

Also, would you say a 320 gb hd is too little? most of the stuff I have will be on STEAM where I can download and redownload if needed.

The GTS 250 will work just fine. And you might as well get a 500gb Harddrive since you nearly spend the same amount for a 320gb.

Core 2 DUO > phenom I. Core 2 Duo clock for clock compared to a phenom II is 0-2% quicker.

No, C2D &C2Q are slower then Athlon 2's and Phenom 2's (price vs performance), The Athlon 2 X4 620 is faster then the Intel Q8200.

unless you already own a socket 775 board thats core 2 duo or core 2 quad compliant its not worth the effort of getting either atm unless you have a VERY specific circumstances (live in a nation where online retailers arent cost effective/non-existant and no one local sells good amd cpus/mobo's) like i know this palce i go for non essential pc components locally that sell am3 cpu's and boards for MORE than 775 sockets boards/cpu's over there for the same price as an athalon II x2 250 (3.0ghz) cpu you can get a core 2 quad q8200 (2.5ghz) :P why.. because they hate amd (yet love ati which is very confusing)

i go to them for cheap cases, ahrd drives, and motherboards. not to mention complimentary hardware etsting b4 purchase.
