In let see... one month's time, or maybe 2? Is there any chance of the prices on the nvidia cards dropping when the R600 is released?

Can I get something top-notch? (so to speak, I'm not counting the monsters)

The money goes only for the computer, no display needed.

Thanks!

You can get a top of the line including a monitor for that much if you build it yourself. If you go pre-built, you should still be able to get something rather decent. And if you build it yourself and don't need a monitor, you can really build a monster.

Oh dude, for $2000 bucks, anything you want is yours.  I just bought a system from cyberpowerpc.com w/ an AMD 64 X2 5200+, 1GB RAM, GeForce8800GTS, 250GB HDD, and an ASUS mobo for a little over $1000.  If I didn't chicken out and built it myself (I've never done it), I would have saved over $150 w/ newegg prices and probably would have gone with the 8800GTX.  Anyway, point being $2000 is serious cash for a gaming rig, especially since you have a monitor already.

Kloney

post your final concept build on here before you purchase the parts, everyone will give you input on what you put together and if it will work (even save you money to spend elsewhere on certain parts).  you're going to have a bomb ass system.  good luck.

You can make a BEAST of a PC with that money. It may not seem so, but the parts are there. You just have to find them.

Sounds promising you guys! I'll post it here before I purchase, but it might take a while since I gotta get rid of my old one first...

Until then.
