I didn't like the story itself, but the campaign is a fun romp, as is Spec Ops. The online was relatively frustrating, even before it was inundated with hackers.
Well I've already completed it on my Xbox. I was simply wondering about the MP because I do far better at shooters with a mouse and keyboard instead of a controller. But if it's filled with hackers guess I'll pass on it.
I already own CoD 4 on the pc as well, but I haven't played it in ages. Is it still active? How much is the DLC for that one?

COD4 DLC is free and a lot of people still play it.
Im gonna say - it was actually really fun. I had fun for a good long time. Sunk 146 hours into it. Its multi is fun. Ive only played BOps on consoles but man did it disgust me. I hated it. MW2 was enjoyable and people still play it a lot. The population was split cuz of BOPs but its still pretty strong. I stopped playing it myself - cuz I wanted a game more like BC2 - which is a couple times more amazing if you ask me - AND because of all the freakin hackers. Made the game quite unappealing. It also runs well. I heard BOPs really suffered in the PC performance department. Douche bags have been shafting PC gamers since MW2.
Ok so I got installed and all patched and it's a lot of fun. However...is it just me or do 80% of the players use some kind of hack? It seems that no one has recoil, and some people have aimbots to boot. It's not making it not fun though, don't get me wrong I'm still tearin it up with a 3-1 k/d ratio or so, but it seems since I played this game when it was new, and playing it now, a lot has changed in the way of people hacking. Are there servers that actually police hackers so they aren't everywhere? Or is it just something I gotta deal with? Thanks for any input.
Game sucks, you gotta live with the hacking, its bad enough without the hacking. Get any of the other CoD games, MW2 isnt just the Worst CoD ever, its one of the worst games of all time.

Free DLC, and there are normally 30+ 20 player+ servers at any time.
Spec-Ops is really, really fun however online is pretty dead due to Call of Duty: Black Ops. I wouldn't place a $60 price tag on tSpec-Ops alone though, maybe get it when its on sale.

There are no "servers", so to speak, in MW2. You connect to others in a person2person network like you do in consoles. There might be hackers around, but guns have very little recoil in general in MW2 (actually almost all guns in COD games have little recoil).
Last Time I Checked it out it was Good, Didnt think there where any hackers on it, Unfortunately there is still the whole 'Quick Scope' problem from the Consoles, but apart from that it is Certainly a better game than on Consoles.
Pretty good. The campaign is a real ride. And despite the lack of dedicated servers, I'd say the MP is a hell of a lot more stable than Black Ops. Black Ops suffers not only from regular lag and high pings but also lock ups and crashes too.
Just so you guys know, my above post about hackers was regarding CoD4 which people recommended I play instead earlier in the thread. I do not actually have MW2 or Black Ops on the PC at this time.
