Fair estimate. It usually takes that long to start seeing computers able to play these kinds of games at the higher levels without slowdown.

What specifically comes out in 6 months? I don't know of any game scheduled for release this year that is supposed to be more demanding than crysis. Age of Conan is probably the closest thing so far but I think crysis will rein for awhile. Don't forget its not a good thing to make a game that very few can play.

Its worth noting though that Crysis wasn't as optimized as it could have been and the crytec team has supposedly made a lot of strides in warhead or whatever the new one is called.

Alan Wake. The devs said that the recommended specs include quad-core processor... and that was in 2006. They have been silent about it's development, and the screenshots released in 2006 are amazing even by today's standards.

Yes it is. Remedy is known for long development cycles, how long did they develop Max Payne? And do you honestly think that a game that's been funded by Microsoft and is Vista-only is going to be abandoned? Really now..

Flight Simulator X. Compared to that Crisis is a lightweight. At least you can get a better videocard for Crysis. FSX is bottlenecked at the CPU and even the fastest CPUS right now can't push much past 23-25 FPS with the bells and whistles turned on. I can get a consistant 30 FPS with Crysis on High with my 8800GT and C2D6850 and thats not even top end gear anymore.
