Never was into WoW but I'll be dropping any other online games for a while when Guild Wars 2 comes out so I can play that.
I am not a WoW gamer, I am a Guild Wars gamer (Got over 7,000 hours logged). But the more I hear about GW2, the more I don't want it. I am hyped for Diablo 3 more than anything.
I will give GW2 a try, just like I gave Rift a try. But truth be told I am over MMOs for a long, long time (I gave up WoW as well). Nothing has be able to hold my attention quite like WoW.
Need more information on GW2 before I could answer. Didn't enjoy the PvE content in the original at all. Played more like a simplified diablo than a MMO.i5750at4Ghz
this is because gw1 is an online rpg..
so yeah id imagine it has ALOT in common with games like diablo and NWN
Don't play WoW, but I'll be giving GW2 a shot just like all the other upcoming MMOs.
I'm really excited for EverQuest Next and Kingdom of Amalur: Reckoning, though.
Well I don't think I will still be playing WoW when GW2 comes out anyway (even though I only started with Cata). GW2 does look great, I will just see if I'm still even gaming other than BF3 and skyrim when it comes out.
I'm gonna get GW2 cause I just don't have the patience and large amount of time to dump into WoW. Also not really interested in paying 15$ a month to play for 1-2 hours a week. Also, in GW2, I can party with my friends even if the level difference is huge.
Not trying to start a "GW2 will kill WoW thread", but I am very curious as to how many WoW players know for a fact that once GW2 comes out that it will be your knew crack? I for one am making the shift from WoW to Star wars knights of the old republic online as my P2P and GW2 as my F2Ptimmer7000None, gamers who play MMOs such as WoW are looking to have the best armor+weapons to dominate; people who actually seek tactics wise game will buy GW2 - yeah GW fanboy here if you wanna call me that way - I just like a games that require some thinking before you attack :)
I think it's too early to tell. If anything, the way things are going now, I'll pobably end up playing GW2 and WoW at the same time, and I mean literally at the same time. With the que times for DPS classes in WoW right now, I could probably accomplish a few things in both games at the same time. There is no doubt though, I will be picking up GW2 on release day.

Having said that, GW2 looks to have expanded on it's PvE content a great deal, and graphically looks amazing.
I've already left WoW and waiting for ToR; I've only seen the bare bones of GW2, less than even ToR so I'm not convinced it'll be a success, success meaning enjoyable long term.
i think we've seen more of gw2 than we have of tor, but i could be wrong. i left wow because there's nothing in it left for me. i started playing it because of some of the things that guild wars didn't have (and my friends played wow). we've decided to move onto gw2 when that comes out so there's no reason for me to ever go back to wow.I've already left WoW and waiting for ToR; I've only seen the bare bones of GW2, less than even ToR so I'm not convinced it'll be a success, success meaning enjoyable long term.

How will a game like this make money if they don't offer a monthly subscription? Will we see xpacs like the first guild wars did or some sort of paid in game items? I remember the first one having some sort of in game cash shop.

Microtransactions, content packs, etc. Probably offer a premium subscription to those who want it.
Honestly, even if they announced $5-15/month sub, I would gladly pay for it. While many other MMO's good or bad are at $15 anyways. I'm still not sure if Guild Wars 2 will be a "true" MMO. We'll find out more in later months. I guess they will either do micro-transactions or expansions like the original Guild Wars, hoping they'll gain fan loyalty by keeping the game free-to-play.How will a game like this make money if they don't offer a monthly subscription? I've stopped playing WoW for quite a time now for multiple reasons that would probably bore you :P.
So anyways, i'm kinda looking forward to GW2 since i love MP on my pc and rpgs... also the fact that it's f2p is huuuuge. I'm just praying the game is worth a purchase and so far is looking great!
I was planning on playing GW2 but who knows when it will be released? I was actually thinking of trying TERA Online when it comes out as well. Looks solid.natebloggerTera looks good, 'cept for the loli ****, which is 150% pedobear approved. I hope GW2's good, got sick of wow, especially after Blizz decided to ruin mages (icelance spam -.-, and perma ele)
GW2 isn't an MMORPG, guys. It's an instanced online RPG. Not saying it's going to be a bad game, but if people are expecting it to be an MMO they will be sorely let down.

Guild Wars 1 was a not an MMORPG, Guild Wars 2 will be.

You're quoting from the same people who call Guild Wars 1 an MMORPG.
Neither games are. Having a main city area with multiple lobbies where everyone can congregate IS NOT an MMORPG.
If you can only bring friends into the instanced areas outside that main lobby area, IT'S NOT AN MMORPG.
Like I said, I'm not saying the game is bad, but don't confuse yourself. GW2 isn't going to be an MMO like WoW. It's not going to have an uninstanced world. It's going to be instanced, which makes it an online RPG, not an MMORPG.

Killing 10 rats who respawn is interesting PvE content compared to a world that changes based on what you do? I don't like PvP in either game but I spent 1400 hours roughly on the PvE in Guild Wars and only about 100 for WoW. It is disheartening to clear out a quest only to have all the monsters you just killed respawn on the way back to the quest given...

The demos for Guild Wars 2 have people all running around and doing quests in the same area. What seperates it from the normal MMO is that they are pushing a bunch of dynamic 'quests' that give the world a more lively feeling.

I don't think they labeled Guild Wars 1 as an MMORPG...
"Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game)."

The people that played Guild Wars might have thought it was an MMORPG, but it's not. Guild Wars 2, however, will be.
