How much RAM do I need for Gaming?

I think that 1 gig is sufficient enough but 2 gigs is good if you want good smooth gameplay. also a video card with at least 256 mb of video memory would be good as well.

Please find me one PC gamer who does not want "good smooth gameplay". Why even mention 1GB? This is like banging my head against a wall. 

One 1gb of ram is enough to run the current games also you can buy ram from newegg and here is the link.
