I think it depends on the version (32 or 64 bit).
 I believe the 32x version wont recognize that you have 4 gigs, but I do think it takes advantage of it.Â
lol, 8 gbs is really way too much, and isn't supported by the 32 bit version. If you really want to future proof your system, you'd be better off buying a better CPU and GPU than 8 gigs of ram.
Edit- You would notice a very insignificant difference in gameplay from 2 gigs to 4gigs as compared to purchasing a better CPU and GPU. If you really need more RAM, I would suggest buying some faster, high quality stuff (800mhz).
Any 32-bit OS is only capable of supporting 4GB of RAM, you can put more but it won't recognize it so the answer is no. If you have a 64-bit OS on the otherhand that jumps up to something like 16TB memory that it can address.Runningflame570
Not entirely true. There is something called memory paging which allows you to address more than 4 GB with 32-bit although it will limit the amount of memory to be allocated to each application to 4 GB.
