it will be in the games options, it should be on the main menu then slide all options to low. whether gears will run on your laptop is another matter, but definitely try lowering the setting.

Its highly unlikely that laptop will run many modern games, even at low. I have on with similar cpu (1.7 Ghz), same ram but a much better graphics card and that won't run Gears. It will run a few modern games such as L4D and Fallout 3 but it has an ATI card in it.

Soryy, most laptops just aren't made for gaming.

Your PC wont handle it, even on low, espetacular low settings

You sound like you have never play a PC game before, customize the settings, to low, high etc....It is something so simple and intuitive, you would have never need to ask us, as long you take a good look at any PC game's menu :)

By the way, did you bought the game already? If you are thinking about it, dont. Unless you change PC of course

I dunno about the hardware part, but to run a game on low settings (usually defaulted to that anyway) all you have to do is look for the graphics options on the menu and set everything to the lowest.

What kind of games do you like? ( Genre)

and its also important to know if you played PC games before, or even if you enjoy depth or simplicty. For ex, if you ask me a great PC game that your PC can handle I would recommend you a RTS

ANyway, my advice is go to the PC games section of here in gamespot, look at PC, then click All games, and do a good research of games you may like it that it was made from 2000 to 2003/4 at most

Maybe try something source based. Orange box for example. Also give some older games a try, Civ 4, Warcraft 3, Vampires: The Masqurade (spelling?).
