i ask because i recently tried out the demo at max settings (save only using 4x aa) and found that it didn't run as smooth as i hoped. it ran fine, but there were spots that weren't exactly what i'd like. i have a gtx 260, core 2 duo E8500, 4gb ram, and 64 bit vista. keep in mind that other people wouldn't have an issue with how its performing on my machine, i'm just really picky....

i guess i should try playing it at 2x aa and see if it makes much of a difference. perhaps its the physx stuff that does it. i found that mirrors edge gives me some slow down issues with it on, but runs above 60 fps at all times with it off. though, i think i'll take the performance hit, the cloth effects on batman's cape are just beautiful

It ran Like a dream on my Pc, but I also had Physx on too one card ran the game and the other physx :P, My setting were 1650x1050 4x AA highest setting, I might bump up the AA some more. Pickup a 9600gso or something for a physx card since more and more games are starting to use it.

well, it also didn't help that i was playing at 1920x1080. i'm sure at lower resolutions, it would probably work nicer

oh, that sucks, there doesn't seem to be a way to change the graphics settings after they have been set o.o i click the icon to launch the game again and instead of taking me to that menu to pick settings and stuff, it just starts the game....

You can only change settings from the "game setup" shortcut which is really stupid.

Many games need a restart before changes are taken into account anyway.

AMD X2 4800+ (2.5Ghz)
2 GB RAM
8800 GTX (slightly OC'd)

1440x900
Everything maxed except Ambient Occlusion
2x AA

On average I get about 30-35 FPS.

Here is a video I recorded of gameplay that gives you an idea of just how smooth the game runs, even with Fraps shaving off about 10 FPS or so (taking it down to 20-25, though it looks smoother than that in the footage, ironically enough).

The problem is with only one gpu it handles the video, graphics etc. Now add in physics calculations on top of what you are running. Now if you ran the game like at 1650x1050 I bet your card wont have to much trouble but might have a hitch once in a great while. Having another Nvidia card running as a sole physx card will allow your GTX 260 to run at full speed not having to put more strain already top of the work its doing. If you have a sli motherboard just pop in even a 8600 or 9500gt and watch the full glory.

It ran great for me. I'm surprised because most Console ports run like **** on PC, very well optimized game. All settings on max 1680 by 1050 res, no Psysx enabled, 2 X AA, 60 FPS

Vista 64-bit
C2Q Q8200 OC 2.71GHz
4.Ogb Ram DDR2 800
4870 512mb

Ok...

1920*1080, everything maxed including physx.

It's playable at 16xQ (I expect the console versions to run like this), fps is better at 16X but I'll probably play at 4X since there's no difference whatsoever that I can tell.

Run the launcher ---> go to settings --> AA can be set from there.

i honestly cant find that....is it cause i have an ATI Card and its optimized for nvidia? because the option to change the AA just stays at the 8000+ series marker....

That might be the case. Can you force AA on ATI cards?

Yes, via the control panel. I had no problems on my setup.

Core i7 - GTX 275.

Maxed out, with 4XAA, at 1680*1050, the demo ran like butter. Ultra smooth from start to finish. I loved the animations. And the engine itself is one of my favorites because l like the clean look of the Unreal engine (which surprisingly seems to turn a lot of people off - one guy I know didn't like VEGAS 2 for that reason, because he thought it was too antiseptic looking.)

Anyhow, the game is really well optimized. I mean, I'd say that there's a lot going on there, with all of those wonderful combat animations and whatnot.

It's a truly beautiful game, and one that's very modern looking.

(I'm also glad to see that there's a buzz being generated about this game... I think it probably deserves it.)

Your hardware is fine and you should max it with physx off believe me running physx on the same card you are running your game there are big slowdowns ( i get over 60 at mirrors edge but with physx there are places i get less than 20)

ah ok, i see so the slowdown i'm seeing is normal. ok. i tried it with physx off and it was perfect as long as i know that theres nothing wrong with my hardware i don't really care that much that it can't pull out the greatest performance in the world

The one area that kind of killed my performance with PhysX was the area where you learn to glide kick. All of those breakable tiles take a toll.

It was mostly smooth (enough) for me. I played with all max settings, except PhysX on normal. My pc is a couple years old: GF8800gtx, core2 3000, 4gig ram. I am going to wait for reviews to decide which platform is best. I still need to play the 360 demo and compare.
