I recently brought a gtx 460 and upgraded my ram to 4gb ddr2 800mhz....with the intention of overclocking my now ancient e6750 which at stock 2.66ghz obviously will limit how well i can play certain games. Even at stock my cpu gets up to 66 degrees on near max load, and this is with an aftermarket cpu cooler running at 100%, although i dont know the make but i know its pretty big and got a copper heat sink so theres no way it should this hot with it. Even if i take the side panel off the case it makes little difference, and theres no way i can overclock if at stock it is already this hot.
Why do you think my cpu is so hot? Could it be a problem with the thermal paste, maybe replacing it would help? Or maybe the aftermarket cooler isnt a good one? Although even with a stock cooler it shouldnt be getting so high...the max temperature the e6750 can operate at is 72 degrees btw! Inside the case is relatively clean, abit dusty but not too bad and the wires are quite tidy. Any suggestions would be much appreicated!
