Strike that.

Get that combo instead. It's $6 more, better RAM better MoBo.

Bigger hard drive and faster for $5 more.

I know it's used a lot, but you could put a Antec 900 in that build and still be under $1000.

Well I must say that is an exceptional build you have there sir. However, I agree with KillerCheese. Go with the Antec 900 because it has better airflow. Also if that motherboard supports it then get some DDR3 1600 RAM with a latency of 7.

I hear its really good performance a tad bit slower than the i7 920 cause it doesn't have the hyper threading like the 920 does but it still does really we in games with Win7 :D

C2D and C2Q are a dead bread now. LGA 775 is NOT future proof. LGA 1156 and LGA 1366 are the only future proof sockets, as well as AM3, right now.

Nice overall, but I'd get a 650W powersupply and a HD 5850 or a 5870 if you can go over your budget.

Max Crysis DX10 Very high settings (no AA Vsync disabled) with an average of 30 FPS (GTX 275, 4GB DDR3), I usually throw shadows down to High and I get an average of 35 FPS. All high settings I get around high 40's all the time, not even overclocked, very good for a budget card IMO.

Future proof is a very bad way to say it; nothing is totally future proof. I would rather say "more future proof than the C2D/C2Q".

Ok slapped together you a build. I think its pretty solid, and will probably make you pretty darn happy if you were to go with it. Case was just picked from what people here recommended and the GPU is what makes this PC abit over your build's cost, but hey its a top of the line beast. You can always switch it out with a 4870x2 to Pull off a 100 bucks,or got with a 4870 for 140?,and switch out the processor for the 3.2 Deneb for 40 more. All found on Newegg.com btw

Antec 900 case $99.99

Lite-On DVD-CD drive $18.99

AMD Phenom X4 810 2.6ghz $144.99

Western Digital Caviar 640gb HDD $69.99

G.Skill 4gb DDR3 1600mhz RAM $85.99

MSI 79-FX Motherboard $164.99

Corsair 750TX $119.99

XFX Radeon 5870 $379.99

$1084.92 Total cost Bit expensive but cost can easily be dropped by going with a lesser GPU and upgrading later on. If you dont want a super beefy card I do suggest going with a lesser beefy :) 4870 and upgrading the CPU to the Deneb.

Memory seems overpriced. I bought a 6gb DDR3 1600 for $59 with rebate($100 without)during my rebuild phase.

Mr_BillGates
It's not just about the speed of the RAM, it's also about the latency. No point in having DDR3-1600 RAM if it's at CAS 8 or 9. DDR3-1333 Could easily be pushed to be slightly faster then it.... It's better to get DDR3-1600 that has CAS 7 which is where the price premium comes in at.

I play at 1680x1050 resolution, forgot to mention that.

Didn't have time to go through the whole Benchmark, but heres some screens with FPS. Very high settings (Shadows, Water, sound on high) no AA Vsync disabled on the rig I mentioned before.

Now just some pretty ones I took on my new rig last night.
