ok so iam totally into fps and tps and a bit of rpg too..i was never into rts but then since iam done playing most of the games that came out in 2007 and some of 2008(and iam talking about fps, tps, rpg etc)i decided to give rts a try..so i strated of with company of heroes..the first few levels were fine, but later on it got really really messy...i mean iam getting my backside clobbered.i have just realised that i suck at rts iam no good...is this because i was too much into fps all these years?or is it that iam just not smart enough to get into rts..lets say iam not smart enough, how do i make myself good enough to play rts??what do i need to do to not suck so much at it?problem is as u all know fps are all about spotting the enemy and blowing his or her head off....but here its different..so many things to do....too much pressure..i dont wana give up..coh is fun and also wana play the other rts games available but how do i get good at it?suggestions required.

Play tutorial, then CoH campaign, play skirmishes with AI for more practice, then take it online for polish.

My first serious foray into the RTS genre was Age Of Empires. I found it to be a decent introduction to the genre, although Age Of Empires 2 was much improved, and Cossacks is one of my favourite RTS games.

From what I played of the demo, Company Of Heroes is a different kettle of fish as it is mostly focused on the combat. I don't think there's any base building or anything.

All I can say is stick with it and practice, and you will get better over time. No doubt you did the same thing with FPS games when you first started out with those. You do have to switch your mind-set a bit when playing games from another genre.

Anyway, good luck with the game and I hope you enjoy it.

I dont think it has anything to do with you sucking, and more to do with CoH just being frikin' hard. Relic is known for making their games have nearly punishing difficulty. of course, once you can overcome the challenges, you are going to be awesome at the game.

I'd probably recommend some other game to get started into RTS. World in Conflict is a good choice just because its more of an "Action RTS" than a pure RTS game.

I suck at real time strategy games. I had hundreds of hours in Starcraft, dozens in Dawn of War, plenty in CoH, lots in Stronghold - but I just suck at the games. I've accepted this long ago. If I were you, I'd accept your fate. There is no improvement.

If i was a fps player and wanted to get into rts i would try world in conflict ........this may sound funny but if u really wanna be good in strategy games ....................play chess......................its the mother of all strategy games
