Picked this up on the $4 Amazon sale that someone mentioned. Way happy I didn't pay more.

Wow, did they ever take a great idea that was TDU1 and mess it up for TDU2.

TDU2 is not a game about cars or racing much at all. It's more about trying to be cool and image lifestyle crap.

This game is way more arcade feeling than the first game, which I hate.

While the graphics are better, the area is still mostly soulless, empty and lifeless.

Don't waste your money on this.

I can't help but agree, I played the first TDU for months and still replay it from time to time. This one on the other hand was just flat-out horrible (up to the point where I uninstalled it after a few days of play). Some people might love the whole sims aspect of the game, but if your looking for some fun racing, then only get this when you tried everything else out already.

I disagree, TDU 2 is better than 1 in every single way. The world is also decent now, if you think this is soulless, empty and lifeless, I don't know how you enjoyed TDU 1 for more than an hour considering that cities were terrible, everything else was copy paste and it barely had nay locations.

Agreed, the Second one focused more on the Social aspect of it than the rest of the game! Which was extremely annoying all the BS you would have to sit through in the beginning was just ridiculous!

Textures were worse than the first game, but the lighting was better! (of course I played both on 360)

I dunno, I rather liked this one, the map was cool, I liked the cars, I liked to just drive in it.

Yup, here is a list of just missing features I found from someone on the Atari forums why TDU2 is so darn crappy:

  • Zooming the GPS during driving
  • Manually change gears in automatic mode
  • Tuning options
  • Find people by car ****/li>
  • Adjustable seat position
  • Speeding up a challenge preview
  • Lisa's
  • Drafting
  • Factory paint and interior options
  • Eden Island ("E")
  • Lamborghini
  • Prototypes
  • Working pedals
  • Adjustable Motion Blur
  • Manual clutch for any configuration
  • Pause button
  • Big Burnouts
  • Proper physics and proper wheel FFB support
  • Automatic switching from stick to paddles depending on the car
  • Adjustable head panning in cockpit view
  • Hawaii Shirts
  • Place bookmarks wherever you want
  • Import Custom Music
  • Big Rewards for Achievements; a House, Cars
  • Maserati
  • 12 Car Garages
  • Car Pack
  • Models with an attitude and free clothes coupons
  • Hardcore mode
  • Proper photo mode
  • Motorbikes
  • Car rentals
  • Online trade
  • Anti cheat protection
  • Challenging AI
  • Exciting and varied races (like for example 'Tantalus')
  • Traffic that actually obeys the traffic rules
  • Chrono Pack
  • 3rd chase camera with auto zoom
  • Minimap with island texture at all zoom levels
  • City and Village names appear as you enter them

My main issue with it was the simplest one, the driving. It was a lot of fun in the original and about as much fun as cutting my legs off with a blunt saw in TDU2. I mean seriously, what were they thinking? It has to be the least enjoyable driving controls/mechanics I have experienced in any driving game I've ever played. If they just ported the controls/feel of driving from the original TDU into the sequel the game would be improved exponentially. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot...with a grenade launcher.

Personally I found the driving far too trial and error. It felt like I had to memorise every corner exact to be able to drive a course instead of predicting it a litle on the fly. I could never get the feel for driving.

I disagree. It's my favorite driving game that I can think of, not counting like mario kart, and I think it's a lot of fun. I'm not a racing game neckbeard or anything though, so I dunno.
