I'm sort of new at looking and buying computers. So I don't exactly know which graphics cards are good, etc. But I was looking at a computer for $600 on ebay, which comes with Windows 7, and I was curious if it would be worth the money. $600 is pretty much all I can spend on a computer, and I'm not really looking to be playing Crysis on Max settings or anything.

Don't buy that computer. An original Phenom at 2.3ghz is a dog, and the 9500gt is a bad gaming card. Not a good deal at all.

Hey, I like the case! Check cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html and search for the "Phenom 9650". You can see it has a pretty nice score. Anyways, if you have a PC why not upgrade?? You'll get more performance for your money! Have a look at my blog at ptdsign.net/design/systems for a system of a bit over 500 dollars which is better than this one. Good luck!

Somewhat. It's capable, but you can get better performance for your dollar if you were to pick out the parts yourself and build it.

Well I would do that, it's just

1: I don't know what would be the best parts to buy

2: I'd probably blow myself up trying to build it.

This is the truth right here. It is no where near as scary as you think it is.

Yup. I would say the main things you should first educate yourself on are:

1) how to properly handle computer components

2) grounding yourself (to prevent ESD damaging hardware)

3) preventing electric shock

Once you are informed on those topics (it's all common sense, really) it's as hard as making a small Lego castle or something like that.

What should I do, just make a thread asking what the best parts for a computer are or something? That sounds odd!

People do that here all the time. Actually I think that's what most threads here are about. I made about 20 of such threads before I actually went and ordered the parts for my first build. Just specify your budget, and whether you need an OS, keyboard/mouse, monitor, speakers, etc.

That actually looks like a very cool process. When I get enough cash, I'll be sure to make a thread about which parts I should buy.
