That game a lot of horrible reviews by a lot of people. I personally bought it, and it still sits on my shelf. It seems the game was rushed to quickly which is a shame.Expo_Smacko
Well, the ground textures may not be the great textures you would expect, but the lighting quality, much better than C&C 3. I love the fact that it is based around the users imagination.
I played the demo and enjoyed it quite a bit but to me it didn't seem like the game I would be playing for ages.
What can you actually do apart from makingcreatures anyway?
Fiend_106
Pretty much everything in the evolutionary cycle, from evolve, and build stuff, build vehicles, religous, economic, and military, build buildings, and space ships, go across the galaxy, blow up planets with a planet buster, all of your creations are automatically shared with the world to keep the game new evertime you start it. I recommend it. Get Galactic edition if you see it.

People bad mouth spore alot because it didn't live up to the near legendary hype it received, it is no doubt a great game when you go by most reviews though. But when a game doesn't live up to the hype people just dismiss it as terrible, I don't know why. Siofen
Yah, I hate it when people do that, they say it's horrible, and they never even played the darn game!

1 play through havent touched it since. worst purchase since i bought orange box. ( gay aswell)ag3ntz3rox0x
About what you said about Orange Box, ( *** as well ) isn't that a bit strong?
Oh spore I have this game. This game is just AWESOME.The best thing is we can make any shape of creatures.I had a cheat code of money but I forgot it.Well that's an awesome game.I have finished the last level of this game.I mean in the world stage where you have to annex the headquarters of other speciesDarkPrince_ssj2
I use the cheat codes in the creators outside of games for extra cash when I'm creating something for the stages, but when it's during the game, it just takes away some of the fun. I regret using the cheat within the creature stage now. Because, I just took out some of the fun. Honestly, if there is one game where cheats are not fun, SPORE is the game. And I'm glad that cheats aren't fun in this, because it takes away from it.
I played it to finish once. I tried to play it again, got to the first creature stage. The game is basically 5 mini games. You have a sort of platformer, an RPG, 2 RTS stages and the space stage. All have been done before and done better. If I had to describe Spore in one word it would be : Shallow.kilaan
The first four stages are just a tutorial for the space stage. Of course it's a bit shallow, they weren't supposed to make five full games for the price of one. For the 40 minutes a stage lasts, it's perfect.

The 4 stages last aslong as you want it too. Plus, the 5 stages are directly related to human evolution, so how would the 4 be tutoria for the space stage, when that's how far we are too? Although, we're just probing around and going back and fourth from the moon and ISM every so often, which really isn't all that exciting if you ask me, but in SPORE terms, going to other planets, really hits the spot.
Lets see if you still think that one month from now!Daytona_178
??? Umm is that something your saying about what I'm saying, because if it is, yah, I'm still going to be thinking that one month from now.

With the world under your control, it's time to go to space, the Spore endgame, where your options suddenly multiply enormously. You can fight, colonise, trade, explore, establish relations; only a certain amount is imposed, and while there is a lot to do, you're prepared for it, thanks to what's arguably Spore's greatest trick: the hours you've spent up to now were an elaborate combination of character-creator and tutorial masquerading as a game.
It makes sense in reverse. Cell taught you the basics of survival; Creature showed you the virtues of social and militaristic growth; Tribal introduced you to society and multitasking; and Civilization honed everything and taught you to conquer on a massive scale and multiple fronts. You were designing your species - or rather Designing - and of course actually designing in the visual (and aural) sense as well; establishing your look and play styles by living through elaborate and occasionally brilliant examples.

In every discussion, that something like what I last said, there is always someone who comes out to explain it. : )
Lets see if you still think that one month from now!Daytona_178
You know, empathy helps a lot in Spore. I loved my creatures, they were my kids. I loved my buildings and machines, they were MINE. I was extremely proud when I was eradicating another species or conquering a new city, and scared ****less when a monster attacked my city or my tribe.
And then I became a little Hitler I loved my "people" so much that I transformed my society into a perfect war machine and conquered everything. For MY KIDS:evil:
And it was awesome.

That is one of the best things to do in SPORE. High five!
overall im a fan. as a platform for games...it is astonishing. the potential for growth and the scope of the game in terms of time and space and creativity is without match. one day i hope EA release proper development tools for modders just so they can continue to build on it. the game itself though..is a bit hit and miss. i liek the cell stage....not much more they can do there. creature stage is also kewl but the scope for improvement is biblical. the tribe and civ stages seem very under developed though...they need alot of work (thankfully there short). space stage is good but again the possibilities are endless. what the game really needs is expansions...and not expansions that just add new body parts. expansions that further develop all aspects of the game...really expand the options and possibilities open to the player. i hear that there is one int he works to further develop the space stage which is exactly the kind of expansion the game needs. it also needs the mod community...maxis just are not big enough to really give this game the beans. theyve created a bit fo a monster. so yea...as a platform..astonishing. as a game its still pretty good but it needs work.osan0
Speaking of expansions, you mean like expansions, that "Imporve on everything"? as in, all the patches since release, bug fixex, and overall general game running software updates included as with new stuff to use, and what not? I'd have to say, "Yah, I agree." but still, overall, the game is alot of fun. Especially when you see one of your created creatures as an epic during creature stage.

not only expansions that improve on everything...but expansions that do things the game currently isnt doing. for example the space expansion pack coming this year is rumoured to allow u to leave ure ship in the space stage and travel on foot on other planets (thats one of the things itll do..obhiously/hopefully itll do alot more). looking further afield..hopefully theres expansions that add new stages with new ideas in different time periods. at one stage it would be very kewl if u could travel to other ppls galaxies and they to yours (or download other ppls galaxies and allow intergalactic travel...or something like that). thats really tip of the iceberg stuff. the last thing spore needs is expansions with just body bits. they should have a few body bits coming with the other expansions imho.[QUOTE="MOCHIRON_MAN"][QUOTE="osan0"]overall im a fan. as a platform for games...it is astonishing. the potential for growth and the scope of the game in terms of time and space and creativity is without match. one day i hope EA release proper development tools for modders just so they can continue to build on it. the game itself though..is a bit hit and miss. i liek the cell stage....not much more they can do there. creature stage is also kewl but the scope for improvement is biblical. the tribe and civ stages seem very under developed though...they need alot of work (thankfully there short). space stage is good but again the possibilities are endless. what the game really needs is expansions...and not expansions that just add new body parts. expansions that further develop all aspects of the game...really expand the options and possibilities open to the player. i hear that there is one int he works to further develop the space stage which is exactly the kind of expansion the game needs. it also needs the mod community...maxis just are not big enough to really give this game the beans. theyve created a bit fo a monster. so yea...as a platform..astonishing. as a game its still pretty good but it needs work.osan0

I am sorry but I stand by my post.
Cell Stage : A SHORT platformer. I beat this stage in about 35 minutes first run through. Again, lots of better and LONGER platformers out there.
Creature Stage : Very basic third person RPG. Instead of loot you get creature parts. Very basic with only a couple attacks. The other option is the befriend option which is basically the same as the attack option except instead of spamming the attack buttons you have to play a game of "Simon Says"
Tribal Stage : A very basic infantry based RTS. First stage of Rise of Nations blow this game out of the water.
City Stage : A very basic vehicle based RTS. Later stages of Rises of Nations blow this game out of the water.
Space Stage:At first this stage was fun. It actually had the APPEARANCE of depth. The veil was shortly lifted after. Too much use of the random command for my taste. Pick a random number 1-3 every 5 minutes. If 1 then spawn pirates at random planet, If two Spawn enemy civ at random planet, if 3 spawn eco disaster at random planet. Trading spice depending on what color it was completely random between A and B how much $$$ you got. I forgot the color but I had some spice, went to a planet and they wanted 5k for each. Leave solar system and come back right away and then they wanted kike 20k???? They didn't even try to have a somewhat dynamic economy. Freelancers economy was 10X better than this one at it was a crappy static one. Then there is the Grokk. Okay, I had no dealings with the Grokk whatsoever. So I gear up and make my Trek to the center of the Universe. As soon as I come in contact with the Grokk my bases are getting attacked by them CONSTANTLY. I am also talking about planets in the middle of my space territory with no way to defend against them without trekking all the way back(long ways) and dealing with it. If I do go and deal with it by the time I get back to where I was they would of already attacked again 3 times.
So I am trekking to the center of the universe and 1/4 of the way there the game starts getting boring and tedious. Not hard, just boring and tedious. Quit for a couple days. Come back a couple days later with the determination to stick it through to the end and do it. Center of the Universe crappy cut scene and all my planets are destroyed by the Grokk. Exit out, uninstalled and never played again.
Now don't get me wrong, the game wasn't BAD, it just wasn't good. It was a shallow mediocre game. Now I am sort of biased on the subject because I have only ever enjoyed a couple of games with Will Wrights name on it. (Sim City and Sim Ant) IMOP he tried to make a more casual Sim Earth and just ended going from one extreme to another.

When I said that I honestly said, that you will like it. I garauntee it. You should definetly buy it.
Hey, and I also Capitalized his name.
The worst DRM you ever saw was responsible for SPORE being the most pirated game of 2008, outside of that, SPORE is known for the unforgettable videos that turned up on youtube when the demo came out. Videos like my personal favourite;
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dv_NuVkQplA&feature=related
You figure out the subliminal message for Will Wright and EA games
I wouldn't say loads of replayability. Friendly creatures are incredibly boring and tribe is not done very well. Economic races aren't very entertaining and can't defend themselves, and once you beat it, I doubt there are multiple endings in space. I loved spore the first time through, but It's kind of a drag going through it again with knowing things like archetypes and trying to lean on one edge of the Red Green Blue Scale.

I played it and all of the "evolutionary cycle" felt short and pretty dumbed down. For instance, the tribal stage all you did was either befriend or destroy the other tribes. No other options. The civilization age? Destroy all out civilizations or convert them. Space age? Fly around, terraform, and conquer. That may sound interesting but damn they even made that just tedious. I know they are mainly targeting the casual crowd but it is such wasted potential and a very mediocre game in the end.[QUOTE="MOCHIRON_MAN"][QUOTE="Fiend_106"]I played the demo and enjoyed it quite a bit but to me it didn't seem like the game I would be playing for ages.

jmnderson69
No, you don't. Get an image for SPORE, during the creature stage. and for an image, the beginning of the tutorial, or another dramatic looking image, like an image filled with all kinds of lighting. I have both, and the lighting of SPORE, I believe rivals that of C&C 3.
Well? Have you played both of them? You saying stuff that quite easily resembles that you have not. During the creature stage, when the sun comes up, it looks actually quite good. But then you look at C&C 3, and you check out the tutorial stage, (it has the best example) and the light from the sun coming through the clouds, looks quite a bit pixelated, if you are the kind of person who looks for those little graphical things, not heavily, just a little bit.
Plus, form civilization stage, or space, look down on the water, and the reflection of the sun in there looks hmm, alright, or good, but then you look at C&C 3, it's sun reflection is good, or alright. And then, you look at the water yet again, and you can see the floor of the sea, or ocean, and it does this pretty good actually. C&C 3, you only see the surface, and that's it. But with Red Alert series, seeing as how you can have naval battles, they did the water in RA 3 pretty good, it just looks like it's gone through thousands of Brita water filters.
I'm am serious here, that in some areas of graphics, SPORE compared with C&C 3, honestly does something in graphics, better.
Well you think SPORE sucks, well good for you. Try looking closely at the C&C 3 graphics.
Obviously you are not the person who likes to observe the graphics closely, and see how good they are and such, like me, so obviously, you can't see that SPORE does have in maybe 1 or 2 areas, better graphics. Water, is one of them now.
