My current PSU is this one here:
http://www.censuspc.com/Bestec-ATX-250-12Z-Rev--D2R-250W-ATX-Power-Supply--HP-P-N-5188-2622-pr-3129.html

Im currently using it with a 8600 GTS(which recommends a 350 watt PSU). I was going to upgrade to a ATI 4850 but my PSU has me worried. I have it connected to a PCI-E connector

Would the 4850 work efficiently with my PSU(because my 8600 GTS works perfectly) or should I settle for a weaker card, and if so which one?

If the 4850 wont work with my PSU then i was considering the 8800 gt, 9600 gt, and or the ati 4830

No way in hell I'd trust that power supply with anything greater than an HD4670. If that. To be quite honest I wouldn't even recommend it with your 8600GTS. If you're going to splash out on a new GPU, I strongly recommend picking up a better power supply.

Absolutely.

I was running the same 8600gts on a 250w psu and it wasn't enough to get the full performance potential, I am positive the HD4670 would require even more voltage.

Here is my question now: Would a 4670 be an upgrade worth going for from the 8600 gts?

The HD4670 doesn't require an external power connection and uses about 60w under full load. The 8600GTS does use an external power connection, and tips the scales at around 70w. And technically they both use 12v, it's amperage (and thus wattage) that will differ.

Here is my question now: Would a 4670 be an upgrade worth going for from the 8600 gts?

It's not an upgrade so huge that I would recommend it.

I have a 8600Gts and it runs just fine. Rayzin already answered my question if I should upgrade from the 8600GTS to the 4670 and the 4670 draws less power than the 8600 gts.
