To save money, my dad gave me his old laptop which is a Dell Inspiron 8600 and to my horror it only has a mere 32 MB vram on a Nvidia Geforce Go 5200. So I'm wondering, what the hell I can play this weak weak, WEAK, card? I do have a desktop dedicated to gaming but I'm using the laptop mainly just to pass the time at work, so no responses like play on your desktop! Fairly confident that starcraft, diablo 1 and 2 will work on it. thanks in advance for the responses! =D

As far as the other specs, it has a intel pentium m 1.4 ghz (codenamed 'Banias'), 2 gig of ram (upgrading this week), and a 160 gig HDD (also upgrading this week). I'm also planning to use vista on it.

not sure what games will play on this but I did want to urge you to not spend money to upgrade this laptop. You will be throwing money down a hole. You won't be ram limited on this laptop and if you need more than 160 gig then buy an external drive since it will be cheaper, more reliable, and transferable to another computer. And do not try to run vista on an approximately 5 year old cpu with single core 1.4 ghz speed. I think starcraft or diablo would be a good place to start as far as games go.

I would definitely reconsider upgrading to vista.. That wouldn't be a good idea and will really bog your computer down.

Yes, Vista will absolutely decimate performance. I still have a machine around your specs. It has a GeForce 5200 FX, 512mb RAM, and an AMD Athlon 64 @ 2.1 GHz. It use to be my main machine for a while (played Oblivion on it, you can guess my results) and here are some games that I use to enjoy on it: Guild Wars WarCraft III Halo (CE) Counter-Strike/Half-Life/Mods Star Wars: Battlefront Age of Empires II As long as your laptop doesn't have too much crapware on it, it should be fine to play older games on. If you get really bored, you can always hit up some abandonware.

Fallout 1 + 2 - they will run perfectly on that system.

You could get Counter Strike: Source, it only takes 256 MB of RAM and a 1.2 GHz processor.
