Used to play WoW 1.5 years ago....

I have been keeping an eye on Cata and it looks great, was thinking of going back to my old lvl 72 Warlock... but the whole "get used to the character and his old spells etc" put me off...

Then I though, "hey, I'll create a Worgen and that way start fresh and still experience the NEW Azeroth"....

Cool story bro. Give Warhammer Online a try, it has a free unlimited trial (you can get to lvl 11) before jumping back into WoW.

I'd love to give CATA a go, but I know in 6 weeks time I'll be hating the grind.

I've given up on MMORPG's, and now just play FPS's or RTS's online.

I just can't stand the damn grind!!!

I dont get you. So playing a game and enjoying it for up to 6 weeks is bad?

Not for everyone, but I can't justify the expense of playing a game I will resent in a few weeks. I simply cannot.

I just bought Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm in Blizzards deal that ends today. Haven't played since Burning Crusade, and I plan to do exactly what the OP is doing, going to roll a Worgen and start over.

Well I got back into the game after a few months away and 15h later Im having a blast with my lvl26 Troll Mage. The quests are better, the graphics are improved, the abitlity distribution makes leveling feel smoother although I do miss tinkering with the trees.

Maybe you could elaborate and be a bit more constructive with your criticisms. Why do you think it has gotten worse?

Exactly, some games only last a weekend....and are worth it. Something that lasts nearly 2 months is pretty good...

while i do fully believe that blizzard entertainment are good people i can safely say cata wont change anything.. they cant fix whats wrong with it.. they didnt fix it with WotLK and they wont fix whats wrong with it now.. the quest variety is GONE you have 2 generic quests omitting dailies kill quests and fetch quests.. raids involve either overly complex boss fights or incredibly generic ones. SotA is a terrible waste of time to play and battle isles is barely played. i didn't bother with arena's at 80 but i imagine little has changed over in the house of nod. and finally id like to sum up with the fact that the quests and storyline are still about as engaging as watching the yule log burning channel at Christmas that they always were. getting gear was relaxed in wotlk but tightened mega-hardcore in in what little of cata i did play in the in term patching.. im sorry but it would take a miracle of god to convince me to return to a game praised by everyone and their mother.. but offers little over a f2p mmo like zu online or perfect world or any of the other 10k f2p titles that were thrown upon us by every 3rd party indie developer under the sun who happen to have a fetish for micro transactions. WoW DOESN'T have anything over f2p generic template mmo's other than its sheer jeu ne sais quoi which managed to lure in millions of subscribers. and its a darn shame that it doesn't cataclysm simply made it a whole lot less convenient to accomplish the same tasks one was given before the division and made getting around in classic zones a whole lot harder than it already was.. cata is a test to see how inconvenient they can make WoW for its "lord knows why they play" baseline before they snap off and leave them for broader horizons. your still told to go slay dude over yonder x number of time or until they yield x number of useless trinket B, there are no more escort quests. or very few of them, and your travel quests have been essentially taken out of the game. the alliance have it harder than the horde now to get around and less friendly zones they can exist in and the horde have greater mobility at the cost of having to pick and choose a whole lot more where they go to make it worth their time. i WONT be getting cata and if this keeps up i wont be getting any other games blizzard ever makes. im sorry but blizzard youve made an enemy of me through poor expansions, pants on head dumb GM's and even worse technical support. now if you dont mind im going back to my yule log. cata is a cont. of the status quo if not made it a lot harder to maintain it. and you folks call it "the best things since sliced bread'

It shows how uninformed you are about cataclysm and the shattering. If you had kept up with wow till WotLK, you would have realized a massive improvement in quest variety and an exponentially bigger improvement with the shattering of patch 4.0.3 in the eastern kingdoms and kalimdor. Classic zones are not hard at all, if anything, they are much easier and actually have a good quest flow now. As I type, I'm playing my dwarf shaman through the western plaguelands and I can tell you that the questing and solo play in the classic zones has improved immensly in every regard.

Not really, as before this there really wasn't any variety in the quests until very recently. You could however say that there is increased variety in quest mechanics and the other aspects of leveling. The battle at andorhal is particularly intriguing, with the location using phasing through a quest chain similar to the death knight starting area.

The Horde and the Alliance are fighting over it, basically, it used to be a Scourge controlled town in the Western Plaguelands. Sadly, I only did a few quests in there on my Tauren Paladin, so I didn't notice much of phasing, but it certainly was epic.

Horde, Alliance, and Scourge are in a three way fight for the city of Andorhal. You eliminate the scourge, and then as an alliance member you almost beat the forsaken, but all of a sudden they get valkyrs and you have to get out of there.

I rolled a new character just for fun the other day. I gotta say the some of the new quests are great. I seem to level wayy fast now. Being low level has never been this fun. They lowered the level for alot of instances there were for high 50/60s so that you have alot more choice in instances too. I am liking everything so far.

The entirety of the old world has updated textures everywhere. Just take one look at Stormwind. Please quit trolling and contribute to the thread.

so basically only POSITIVE comments contribute to this thread.... got it. well i think we all know who the fanboys in this thread are now. thanks for making that clear shakmaster13.

FYI your comment is incredibly FALSE. new textures have not been added "everywhere". one second after creating a new character of pretty much any race will show you that. the 1-10 zones have not been touched at all. im not saying this necessarily matters.... but im sorry to burst your fanboy bubble, they old worlds textures have not been redone "everywhere".

I dont know about the other races but I did start a troll druid recent and I can tell you its definitly a new 1-10 area so you are wrong.

I truly hate WoWs combat and quest grinding, but the new cata expansion looks decent, especially if you are starting a new character, so i think it would be the right time for you to roll a new character.

actually, the starting zone is phased, so you wont be competing with people until level 6+ I think. And by that time, quests are so spread out and the territory is so large its not an issue.

but yeah, for a while I was worried it be just like the Draenei starting area...dozens of people crammed into a small area competing over moths to kill lol

while i do fully believe that blizzard entertainment are good people i can safely say cata wont change anything.. they cant fix whats wrong with it.. they didnt fix it with WotLK and they wont fix whats wrong with it now.. the quest variety is GONE you have 2 generic quests omitting dailies kill quests and fetch quests.. raids involve either overly complex boss fights or incredibly generic ones.

I am sorry but you cannot go from slamming the quest variety, techincal and gm support in WoW and then go and praise F2P mmos, which in all three of these things are alot worse than WoW. F2P mmos do nothing about bots, spam, the gm support takes days, while most of the time the technical support is done by the communities. The PvP in just about every f2p mmo out there is subpar and thats comparing it to WoWs pvp which is very meh. You also bash the lore and quest text in WoW and then go on to talk about f2p games, even mentioning Perfect World which has atrocious lore and quests.

I recommend Cairne server cuz, well, thats the server I am on :P Just be sure to be alliance.

Glyphs are the product of a new primary profession called Inscription. They fill in slots on a second page of your talents now; you can have 3 prime glyphs, three secondary glyphs, and three minor glyphs. They give you a variety of benefits from direct-combat (such as reducing cast time, increasing damage), extending buffs (for example, increasing the length of a buff or reducing its mana cost), to making things easier (removing the reagent requirement for certain abilities, i.e. no feather needed for a priest's levitate)

Thanks for the clarification mrbojangles25. You know, I have always been HORDE....and I was really looking forward to playing as Worgen (I love werewolves ever since the Underworld Movies), and then I realized Worgen is ALLIANCE....noooooooooo, hahahaha. Ok ok, I can deal with that.... I'll go in as a HORDE SPY !!! MUahahahahhahaha. I guess playing as Alliance now will let me see the big cities and the perspective from the other side...? Is CAIRNE server PvE? Is it well populated? Thanks

Even though I am not a huge fan of all the changes in Cataclysm, I can still say they somehow managed to lure me back, I am on a 7 day free trial so I have gotten a taste on some of the new changes both for better and worse. Goblins particularly seem very attractive, there is something I cant resist about playing as a short, greedy, selfish, manipulative, explosive and technologicly advanced jerk.

In addition the new Archeology secondary skill seems nice, digging up ancient artifacts and discovering forgotten lore seems really appealing.

[QUOTE="shakmaster13"][QUOTE="Roland123_basic"] how have the graphics gotten any better? they updated the water.... and it still looks pretty bad. wut?Roland123_basic

When did I ever say that only positive comments contribute to this thread? WoW has several design flaws that you could bring up if you really wanted to criticize the game, but the points you make aren't points at all. You just tend to rant about untrue facts being heavily biased without actually addressing the proper issues that WoW faces and this leads me to believe that you are either trolling or very uninformed about WoW.

Cool thanks for that Maroxad. So the new Azeroth is live (new areas) (all of them?), but the new races only with the expansion. Cool, I'll wait for 7th of December so I can create my Worgen.... but I'm HORDER damn it.... oh well, I'll be a spy !!! :)

Also one thing I noticed... The Worgen can SWITCH between Human Form and Werewolf Form.... Are there any conditions? What's the advantages of each form?
