So I just want to mention this again, because nobody else seems to be talking about what I believe is the biggest issue presented here.
If the game allows aim assist, even if it's just for people playing with a controller, how can legit, balanced competitive play ever be expected? There are people who seem to think Titanfall is going to be the "next COD", and take competitive gaming by storm. How is that going to happen if the PC version has a bunch of people using Xbox controllers and aim assist? A single player game is different. It's just a matter of preference there, and giving aim assist for using a controller doesn't hurt anything. But this is MP only. Players need to be on the same level.
Let me start saying that "CoD" NEVER "took the competitive scene by storm." it was that big casual elephant in the room that had MLG crap ect because it prints money, not because it was good for competition, and its dwindled over the years.
That being said. quite clearly Titanfall is not aimed at that crowd of gamers.... not every fps needs to be about "who can mouse-tap tjhe other slow moving persons head down a corridor first" granted, that happens in Titanfall.... but with my 250 games played... my time spent is pretty even between pilot and titan.... ITS NOT LIKE EVERY OTHER MILITARY SHOOTER.
Competitive gaming? why? why is it essential? its not. CoD was about accessibility... it essentially dumbed down the competitive shooter to a more approachable "fun for more people" kind of gameplay.... and it worked. Just like League of Legends did for the MoBA genre.... we all know DoTA/2 is the most skillful, and hon and even other games... but look which one is more popular and played?
There IS a high skill ceiling on Titanfall..... the way some of us play compare to the majority there is a MASSIVE gap. but the game resembles pure fun and variety similar to playing different classes in TF2 (which I would play over repetitive 1-track-mind-s*it like Counterstrike any day.).
250 games played, 3.8 PLAYER k/d ratio, 82% win, 153 MVP wins out of the 250 games.
competitive? I dont care about pixel perfect boring headshots over and over again personally. any shooter can be competitive.... I value fun in that competition far more than "EMEGHERD HIS PRECISION WHILE MOVING AT 1 MILE PER HOUR IS SO IMPRESSIVE".
