People playing the piracy card is getting old. I know what you have to do to pirate a game and it is just so much nicer and easier to go to wal-mart, gamestop, amazon, ebay, etc and buy the damn thing. The complications with pirating games make it a very small group that actually do it. Plus I prefer to own the physical and legit copy. If anything they're losing money because they presented eye-candy instead of moving the genre ahead in an innovative way and hoped for the best. I am sorry though that I have no games to reccomend.

The game will possibly be dumbed down if it's to hit a console as well as pc.

I couldn't care less about Crysis and it being on consoles is really old news ,but :( where are those times when people didn't need to pirate games? when people saw a good game and bought it, they didn't start to analyze it and tear it to shreds? where has all the fun in games gone? maybe the fun in games turned in statements of piracy? i'm not sure that they are aware of this but piracy on consoles is growing bigger and bigger by the day and consoles like PS2 and Xbox 360 get pirated games just as easy as pc ones the problem is the new HD discs like blu ray, because of the massive size and uncracked PS3, they can't pirate games for it now, but they will find ways. Piracy is not an excuse to make sub standard, lame, creativeless, boring, glitched, games it is present and it is on everything, sure it is easyer on pc but most of the console games don't have online multiplayer so if people pirate those games they get a 100% working version unlike the pc pirates that even if they are cheap mofos, they must buy the game in order to enjoy multiplayer.

Two things need to happen to the industry:

1. There needs to be better PC game protection. This is impossible, however, since people can hack anything nowadays its only a matter of time.

2. Developers need to learn that console gamers are not idiots, and they can handle the intricacies us PC gamers often fall in love with. Start making those M-rated games for people with M-aged intellects...why would a violent RPG need to be dumbed down for a six year when technically six year old arent allowed to play it?

-Bring on the complex, multi-bagged inventory systems...console gamers can handle it!

-Let them customize their characters, choose feats, and put skill points into int, dex, str, stam, wis, cha, and all that good DnD gravy...console gamers can handle it!

-Bring on thorough multiplayer game browsing like we have on PC; screw matchmaking!...console gamers can handle it!

I am going to say this once...MULTIPLATFORM GAMING WILL WORK ITS BEST WHEN GAMES ARE DESIGNED FOR PC-QUALITY, AND NOT DUMBED DOWN INSTEAD!

I have to agree. It doesn't matter what measures devs/publishers dream up to safeguard their games, a hacker will always find a way around it eventually, and when that happens they are back to square one. In my view it is simply pointless throwing money at anti-piracy measures, because the pirates will always win, and the legitimate consumer will end up with the crap end of the stick.

2. Developers need to learn that console gamers are not idiots, and they can handle the intricacies us PC gamers often fall in love with. Start making those M-rated games for people with M-aged intellects...why would a violent RPG need to be dumbed down for a six year when technically six year old arent allowed to play it?

My sentiments exactly. I just can't understand why devs assume their target audience consists of mindless idiots, particularly with games supposedly targeted at a mature audience. In other words, for all their posturing, are they expecting six year olds to play the game and so intentionally make it easy for them to play such games? Or do they simply believe that everyone over the age of 17 is terminally stupid and needs to have their hand held every step of the way? What's the real answer, devs?

The least they could do is include an option in the menus to turn off all the hand-holding crap so that people with more than half a brain cell can play without annoying popups every three seconds. This is one of my pet hates. I managed to play PC games perfectly well for years and years without constant console reminders telling me to 'press button X now'.

And why does depth of gameplay have to go out the window? Not every gamer falls into the category of those who just want to 'blow up stuff' for an hour at a time and can't retain interest past 5 hours. If that's all games are destined to become, then I'd rather go and do something else with my 'limited' free time. That's like saying all books should be under 50 pages long and only be written with 'easy-to-follow' words so you can read them in one sitting. That's fine if your target audience is 5 years old, but it's a retarded notion when your target audience is adults.

Don't devs consult gaming trends these days? Don't they know that the majority of gamers are in their 30s-40s these days? Just because we have limited time doesn't mean we have limited intellectual capacity. If that was the case, then the human race as a whole is quickly destined for the evolutionary dust-bin (garbage can).

I agree with all of that except point 1. Like you said, it's impossible to have a good game protection system, so just don't bother with it. All games get cracked, there seems to be no point in the anti piracy software. Even Starforce got cracked, it just took a bit longer because it was a new system. Now some people say that you don't even need to use a crack to bypass the Starforce system, there is a very easy way around it. Anti piracy software is just pathetic in my opinion. Developers waste a lot of resources because of the anti piracy software.
