Two things need to happen to the industry:1. There needs to be better PC game protection. This is impossible, however, since people can hack anything nowadays its only a matter of time.mrbojangles25
I have to agree. It doesn't matter what measures devs/publishers dream up to safeguard their games, a hacker will always find a way around it eventually, and when that happens they are back to square one. In my view it is simply pointless throwing money at anti-piracy measures, because the pirates will always win, and the legitimate consumer will end up with the crap end of the stick.
2. Developers need to learn that console gamers are not idiots, and they can handle the intricacies us PC gamers often fall in love with. Start making those M-rated games for people with M-aged intellects...why would a violent RPG need to be dumbed down for a six year when technically six year old arent allowed to play it?
My sentiments exactly. I just can't understand why devs assume their target audience consists of mindless idiots, particularly with games supposedly targeted at a mature audience. In other words, for all their posturing, are they expecting six year olds to play the game and so intentionally make it easy for them to play such games? Or do they simply believe that everyone over the age of 17 is terminally stupid and needs to have their hand held every step of the way? What's the real answer, devs?
The least they could do is include an option in the menus to turn off all the hand-holding crap so that people with more than half a brain cell can play without annoying popups every three seconds. This is one of my pet hates. I managed to play PC games perfectly well for years and years without constant console reminders telling me to 'press button X now'.
And why does depth of gameplay have to go out the window? Not every gamer falls into the category of those who just want to 'blow up stuff' for an hour at a time and can't retain interest past 5 hours. If that's all games are destined to become, then I'd rather go and do something else with my 'limited' free time. That's like saying all books should be under 50 pages long and only be written with 'easy-to-follow' words so you can read them in one sitting. That's fine if your target audience is 5 years old, but it's a retarded notion when your target audience is adults.
Don't devs consult gaming trends these days? Don't they know that the majority of gamers are in their 30s-40s these days? Just because we have limited time doesn't mean we have limited intellectual capacity. If that was the case, then the human race as a whole is quickly destined for the evolutionary dust-bin (garbage can).
