I need an open world single-player RPG that isn't Elder Scrolls.

- Gothic 2 - One of my fav rpgs ever

- Risen 1/2 - By the same makers, a more modern version of Gothic1,2,3.

- Fallout New Vegas (alot better then Fallout3)

Other than the older gothic and ultima games, which are old, all the other open world rpgs that I can think of on PC are crap.

If you have a console, you should check out dragon's dogma.

Might and Magic VI and VII, but they're quite old.

The Witcher games aren't necessarily open world but they are largely player-directed and do provide a large degree of freedom within the constructs of an established story. They also have much better gameplay mechanics and graphics than any of the contemporary fantasy WRPGs (Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Skyrim, Fable II and II, Dragon Age I and II, Kingdoms of Amalur).

Only one I can think of that hasn't been mentioned is the Fallout series, and GTA San Andreas even tho they are more shooters than RPGs, they still have a large world to freely explore.

kingdoms of amalaur is basicly a baby of fable and oblivion. If you got tired of bethesda, its a fine alternative. If you idea is having someting similar that aint elder of scrolls, if you want something radically diffirent....

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

You'll have to try it to see if it meets your tastes. Combat, to me, seemed fairly simplistic and the artstyle was very similar to WoW (in a good way). The world was huge, however, and you could definitely get lost in the hours of content it provides.

I love it, but the demo freezes at some points and I get a black screen with Post Processing turned on.
