[QUOTE="Drunkentig3r"]I would also recommend you try out The Suffering and it's sequel, The Suffering: Ties That Bind. I found that game to be quite scary. Another game you should watch out for is Condemned: Criminal Orgins, which is soon going to be released for the PC.

I've only played the first one and it was kinda weird for a very short while, but I got used to the atmosphere real quick. It wasn't too scary. I think it was a real fun shooter though. Which one did you think was better? The first one or the sequel?

I heard that the thief games can be scary, from experience though the best you can get is AVP 2 as marine, hands down. one oldie you could try though which is really spooky is The Undying. I didnt find fear or doom3 at all scarey, the suffering as someone else said isnt too bad though

Doom 3 has some scary moments, but I was expecting something REALLY scaring... Return to Castle Wolfenstein is much scarier for me. Those super soldiers and zombies were pretty scary... I would like to see that game with a Doom 3 engine and all that shadows! Silent Hill is pretty scaring, but still not much. What's scary abour Resident Evil is the camera angle. I think that scary was Darkseed in a perturbing way. Have you tried Sanitarium? I haven't played it, but it seems to be pretty sick, but I don't know if it's scary.

OK Undying is really creepy and bloody. You might laugh at me, but there are a couple of scenes in King Kong that gave me the creeps I just can't stand the insects coming out of the walls, its just so... Yuckyscary

try condemned : criminal origins. Im currently playing it and im having a blast. The atmosphere is really creepy, 10x FEAR. You pretty much only have melee weapons so you feel really underpowered. The AI is also pretty unpredictable and your enemies often fake before hitting you, hide around corners and pop up when you pass in front of them, all kinds of stuff. I am really impressed by this game and didnt expect much. Try the demo also.

I agree with this, Condemned was great. Never look at mannequins the same again. That mall level where you never knew which one was watching you or following you. I made sure to bash the head off all of them. Its also great how the guys will hit you out of nowhere then run and hide behind stuff etc.

Scratches kept me awake moe than a few nights.  Don't listen to the GS review, look at the player reviews.  It's the scariest game I played since Undying.

haha i felt the same way!!! I also made sure every mannequins would be headless and harmless. *spoilers* My favorite moment was when you have an hallucination and you are surrounded by mannequins, and each time you trun around they are in differents positions. EeeeeK!

The Dark Eye is the freakest game ever.

Imagine claymation models and stories by Edger Allen Poe. What a chilling experience.

Zombies or Neanderthals? Either way....nah. I need something that will knock a few hours off my sleep. I heard F.E.A.R was supposed to do that but if i can only play Doom 3 at the lowest resolution of Medium or low settings, then I probably cannot play that can I?rockn2thebeat

System Shock 2 *is* scary.

Those creatures are human beings with collect conscious parasites inside of them. They aren't really what make it scary though. It goes much deeper than that.

That game was almost entirely scare-free. It was intense, perhaps, but you were never really afraid of anything in the game.
The same goes with Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth - it's extremely intense, but there are only a few moments of horror.

As for scary games, System Shock 2 is a great choice, although everyone else recommended it already, so I'd have to mention Looking Glass Studios' other masterpiece - Thief: The Dark Project (and the sequals). Despite their age, they're still some of the creepiest, and ocassionally scariest, games on the market. Thief 3, for example, has one of the most brilliant horror levels ever designed - The Shalebridge Cradle (although I can't say anymore, for fear of ruining it).
