Hello, I have been playing AoC for the last month (38 level ranger in Indomitus server PvP) and I have to say I am having a really good time. I think that the game still needs to be polish a bit more (although they have done a good time since May) and it is much more stable now. I havent got a single crash or memory leak in the last two weeks. The combat is the best combat of any MMO so far (I hate autoattack), the graphics are outstanding (if your computer can handle it) the world feels alive and fun, it has a more mature touch and the PvP is competitive and addictive (190 kkills so far...).

But I am amazed that noone talks about this game anymore. People is back to the old debate about LOTRO and WOW. I played both LOTRO and WOW in the last 3 years...I have to recognise WOW is a great game but after playing AoC for a while, it will be tough to get back to Wow. The graphic engine is really old and that cartoon look kills it for me.

Dont take AoC out of the MMO battle so far, I am sure this game will be up there in the battle for best MMO.

SEANMCAD

Interesting. I noticed you didnt mention anything about crafting, game economics or complexity.

I understand this game does have the first two items but if players dont mention them as a highlight of the game I wonder if the game is for me.

Not being sarcastic here I am serious becuase I am intrested but the game but have very good aspects beyond just combat and pvp for me personally.

Some of the crafting still needs wrok I believe such as gem cutting,

Id like to know how the PvP is more Competitive than say WoW? Its identical, oh except WoW doesnt have real world spawn killing.

And Autoattack? most of the classes bar the melee play exactly like WoWs ( Only healing is rather passive in comparison ), Auto Attack or CHEATING with G11/G15 keyboards pressing 1 button makes you do the best combos? how is that balanced?

Finishing Combos are nice but unbalanced, come to think of it, all the classes are poorly balanced with one another.

[QUOTE="GodLovesDead"]Age of Conan for me had more problems than it was worth. I was having a great time at launch but by the time I got to level 40, they released some terrible patches. My FPS was cut in half, weird glitches, and infinite loading times. I haven't played it since.DanielDust

I think they released some patches and fixed most of the memory leaks, I was having some (grey map) when I started playing but they dissappeared in the last weeks...It is a pity the game was not very stable at the begining cause some people got tired of tech issues even if they enjoyed the game....anyone knows how many suscribers this game has now?

The number is pretty huge, the problem is that only a few still play it and that the game is almost at it's limit. They are already thinking of closing down the servers. It might happen soon or it might not, maybe things will change, but it it keeps going like this, there will be no AoC in 2009.

they not will close the servers they will make like anrchy online. It would be come a free game

Underrated my ass. That game was hyped to epic levels. Hell I fell into it as well. The game is all flash. I tell my friends to steer clear of that pile of mess.

AoC is a fine game, my friends and I are having a blast playing it (just left the Pyramid!!) if it sucks after level 50 I dont know cause I havent reached that level but so far it is a better more intense experience for me than Wow. That is just my opinion. Also , I dont know if the people is leaving or not but my server is very alive and full of people...

I really enjoyed the game until I got to around level 60. Just seems the game goes flat after that (all the reasons were already mentioned in the thread).

Anyone can find Info or a blog to support their arguments. The facts is, AOC is doing well, more players are joining every day, despite what a minority of whiners and haters are trying to spread.

PC360Wii

Stocks are plummeting, 40% have returned to WoW, Funcom has financial problems and a poor backround.

Your wrong in all accounts, talk about ignorant.

If you even bothered reading the thread, many stocks plummett, that is the ups and downs of the stock market, and you call me ignorant? Shoe me one source that shows AOC is the cause of the stock, or that it is failing or dieing? Don't call someone ignorant when it is obvious you have no clue how the stock market works. This subject has already been discussed in the thread, the stock has no bearing on AOC right now, stocks go up and down, that is the nature of the beast. Take 2's stock has plummetted, despite GTA breaking records. Don;t comment on somethign you know nothing about.

I think anyone who didn't expect AoC to go down in MMO history as a flamming turd needs to be on some form of medication.

As soon as AoC patches up a few more things, I'm definitely getting this game. I'm not going to be swayed by a few vocal naysayers.

I'd much rather play AoC than WoW.

I have been a level 65 conq for months. The game is a joke at higher levels. Nobody wants to group, the quests are few and far between, grinding is extremely difficult, there are no instances, it lacks content and substance and nobody in the game cares about actually working as a team.

Look what I found in my bloomberg, AoC is moving to Russia, if Funcom is doing so bad and they dont have money, why are they moving to Russia? the haters got owned... It may be true that the higher levels may lack content (as I said I am only level 38 so I dont know) but AoC has some bright future (take into account that it has been out only for a couple of months...)

I'll go by the GS reviewer thank you. He said personally in a thread, that with a few patches the game will be the best MMRPG to date....and I think it will be.

Reality? thats doubtfull, only your opinion. I've seen people in here constantly trash GW, when I think its an excellent game.

Hellgate London was moved to Korea and Japan before finally going under (well...they still aren't technically under yet, but they fired all their employees and have since stopped subscriptions to the game).

I really don't know the success or failures of Funcom (not enough info), but one thing I will say is that what is seemingly going on currently with the game is almost EXACTLY like what was happening with FSS and HG:L.

It's actually pretty comical, reading the AoC official forums is exactly like reading the HG:L forums prior to it's demise.

K, you said it is a failure? How so? You hve the sales figures? know how many people are playing or how well it may or may not do in the future? Once again, prove it is a failuire before sprewing nonsense.

SEANMCAD

sales figures to justify the quality of a game is so anyonying. Even more so given the fact that AoC has a HUGE advertising campagin so of course a lot of people are going to buy it to see what all the talk is about.

I only view the quality of a game from the game description and other players...nothing else, not even review ratings

I never said quality, I said failure, re-read my post, a game that is a financial success, cannot be called a failure can it, that's what gaming is, a business. Simple concept.

What a bunch of crock, how many game forums you been on? game forums are a cess pool of whiners and people who exaggerate. Not to mention, forums are a small minority of the actual gaming populace. All game forums, especially MMO's. Hell, if you listened to game forums all games are bad.

AoC was a major let down, hopefully WAR is good, they sound like they are doing a good job and atleast admitted that they had to cut classes that sucked, and cut some capital cities. I hope its good >

I was one of the first 80s on Tyranny (within the first two weeks) and I can tell you the game is amazing until level 50, then it is just a grind fest with no interesting diversions. The end-game is practically non-existent as the raiding is easy and no real purpose in the pvp. The only thing it has going for it beyond 50 is the FFA.

Actually, it's not a bunch of crock. Look up the history on HG:L...you will clearly see exactly what I said is what occured. Also, I have been gaming for 20 years and have been on countless game forums.

Believe whatever you want, though, doesn't make a difference. And again, I am not saying the game is dying, going under, ect...I am just saying the so far the events and observations of AoC is VERY similar. In my personal opinion, I think the game is in big trouble, but I won't state that as fact (yet).

Under rated? Not likely

Overrated and hyped up the *? Hell yea

Do you even know what the term under-rated means? When AoC was in development the whole game was marketed like Halo 3 (Thanks to Microsoft) By the time the game released and the first 80s came out, there was NOTHING. It may or may not be good now but first impressions are really important for anything. They lost my $15 sub after a shaft from CE rewards, invisible npcs and players, and instancing (HGL instancing was better since they don't crash every 3hrs)

I list everything that failed in this game but if you like it its your opinion but don't say it was under rated because it certainly was not!

You talking about HG:L instancing now, or when it was released (like AoC currently is)?

Now of course. HGL suffered the same effect as AoC (Memory Leaks etc.) But eventually its fixed and is pretty stable.

As of now AoC is following up on HGLs path, and wouldn't be surprised if AoC was bought out by SOE or something....

Ya, I agree. It's just a feeling based on observations of course, but what's happening with AoC seems so similar to HG:L.

i think its funny how AoC had 500,000 subscribers two weeks after launch and 40% of those left. lotro which was not hyped up even the tiniest bit still stands strong with 300,000-400,000 subscriptions right now(and they're not all chinese gold farmers like in everquest and lineage) and it is still growing and the expansion is due soon. i'm glad that at least one mmo hasn't been totally destroyed by wow. WAR will be fun, but im sensing a pre-mature launch that will fare no better than aoc. i guess i just have to wait until the old republic comes out because the only thing that can top wow is a universe that everyone knows, and what better than star wars to turn the tide of blizzards dominance?

I was the 3rd on my server to reach level 80 on AoC. And I can tell you end-game is a joke, and is very broken. I won't be checking this game out again for another 6 months. I've had such a bad time with all the bugs lack of content and other things that I don't want to login anymore (I still have an active subscription and I do still login to check patches so don't tell me things have changed, I know they havent)

As soon as AoC patches up a few more things, I'm definitely getting this game. I'm not going to be swayed by a few vocal naysayers.

I'd much rather play AoC than WoW.

AFBrat77

By a few? .... its not a few, this is the reality.

And your saying that considering you havnt even played it? Great Logic.

I'll go by the GS reviewer thank you. He said personally in a thread, that with a few patches the game will be the best MMRPG to date....and I think it will be.

Reality? thats doubtfull, only your opinion. I've seen people in here constantly trash GW, when I think its an excellent game.

Its the population of the game dwindeling away, its the poor way the game works, its the company going under.

GS Reviewer? What credibility does he have that we dont? He gave probably the highest review for it in the industry , because the average is 81%.

"Potential to be one of the best MMO's" ... yea and they blew it.

Its almost as bad as the World of Warcraft "Virtually removes the grind".

Reviewers are hyped and like anyone else. he didnt even play to 80.

Doesnt take a genius to work out, that if your stock value has halfed, your not getting nearly as many subscribers who actually bought the game.

That 750ksales? where did they go? Monthly subscriptions should greatly improve thier revanue and stock value, BUT OH WAIT... turns out most MMO fans, including me, decieded the game was too BROKEN to pay after the trial ended.

Type, I meant 750k not a million :P

Dude, read the whole post, we already told you that the stock market or the equity of a company dosent move in line with game sales...there are TONS of other factors out there...AGAIN, look at Take two performance and the SALES OF 5m OF GTA4... the correlation is not there...

Also it is FUNNY how some people critize the game because "two weeks after lunch I was level 80 and there was no content after that"... I mean , do you expect an MMO that has just been launched to have infinite content you reach level 80 TWO WEEKS AFTER BEING LAUNCH? Imagine you were level 80 (or whatever the limit was...) in WOW 15 days after it was launch...I bet you the content there rerally sucked cause there was not even PvP... give Funcom some more time, they are doing a good job with the patches and the game is much more stable now...then they will add more content...in the meantime, I take it easy, level slowly enjoying the game and I try different classes (so far I have a ranger, a bear shaman and a necromancer...it rocks). It is funny how all the Wow-boys try to spit at any other MMO that is launched, I think there is enough room for 3 or 4 MMOs, that market is huge

Welcome to page one, and this tutorial on how to prove you have ZERO understanding of the stock market.

Case in point, with RECORD BREAKING sales of GTA IV, Take 2's stock has still dropped. Sigh, read the damn thread.

But, HGL is actually pretty good now (My drone doesn't eat my guns anymore yay!!!) I actually started playing this again and having a blast after the truckload of nerfs/fails patches Funcom decided to dish out... Too bad FSS screwed up big time with NA/Europe leaving bad impression of the game being unplayable and dull.

"Some more time" are you aware that its been a few months now? and for the record i was not 80.

WoW did have PvP on release.... it wasnt "zomg stick you in a sandbox and accumalate score" it was city raids, as it should always have been.

Honour came in 2-3 months later yes, and battlegrounds.

At elast WoW has all its endgame instances done and plenty to do.

"They will add new content, they will make it better" When? and how? How are thye going to make Raiding difficult? With a freaking healerless ( to the extent of dedicated to healing ) class system, where there is no movement calculation its based on physics, making bosses buggy/abusable/childsplay.

The game, should never of released even in its CURRENT condition, it was done, and its still broken.

As for stocks, well I cant prove im right, and you cant prove your right, its all theory.

It's much improved, agreed. And 2.0 looked really good as well...too little too late though. Sucks too...HG:L was really one of my most anticipated games of 2007.

Well, like i said as soon as they patch some things up, I'll get the game. If they don't make significant patches, I won't. Simple as that.

The game has a great premise, especially for a Robert E. Howard fan like myself. We'll see if they finish it up to greatness.

Its a very good game, and i also like how Funcom has stayed commited to making changes and adding content.

Funcom's commitment is trash.

Notice they have decreased the number of patches?

Notice how instead of working on actual bugs they are fixing " your hair now shows up as it's actual color!Your Welcome!~"

The game is awesome, I just hope people dont believe the haters and give it a try... Also, noone was able to proof with REAL FIGURES that Funcom or AoC is going down in suscribers, they have proof nothing except that it is tough for them to relaise that WoW will be surpass in terms of gameplay... They will continue to HATE any other MMO that comes to the market just becuase in their dirty small minds they have to be sure that WOW is the BEST THING ON EARTH and that they are not devoting their hours and lives to a second class game full of casual gamers with a 4 year old graphic engine...

My comments had nothing to do with being a "hater", nor does it have anything to do with WoW. I haven't played WoW for over two years. I was very excited for AoC in fact...and I even enjoyed the heck out of it until around level 60...and that's where the issues start really becomming apparent.

Take that how you want to...

I'll say number of topics/replies in the AoC thread speaks for themselves. When it launched if you made a topic and no one replied it'll be on page 3 in 5mins. Theres STILL topics about "I'm quitting!" "GIVING AWAY FREE ITEMS!" etc etc. 2/3s of my guild left this game because sieges were broken and there was absolutely NOTHING to do (unless your into pking) with no rewards to PvP. Funcom will not reveal their numbers because they know the game fell flat on its * like Vanguard. You think the server is populated because its instanced. Have you ever checked the little button near your map, how many instances are there?

I was fed up when I couldn't see who the hell was attacking me until I have a quarter of my HP left (NO it wasn't a range class attacking) Then assassins being completely broken since all other profs can stealth, survive longer, AND have more area attacks and CC. Funcom promised too much and failed to deliver thats that.

I guessed if you rolled a Ranger Barb or any type of priest you would say its fun but for DTs Conqs Guardians and the rest of us it kinda sucks. Only thing I think is good. The first 20 levels are fun and immersive. But once you get out of Tortage it all ends.

I never said quality, I said failure, re-read my post, a game that is a financial success, cannot be called a failure can it, that's what gaming is, a business. Simple concept.

SEANMCAD

In the context of this conversation financial success of a game doesn't mean D**k. At least in my view.

A terrible game can still be a huge success in the market place and I personally dont care about the success of a game in that context

wait a minute why are you quoting things I never said???The person that said that quote is the AoC fanboy. Not me
