Hello everyone.

Recently installing the Witcher 2 and BF3 has made me realize that it's time to upgrade. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions about which cards are a particularly good bang for your buck kind of deal right now, or for a card that can really max BF3, for example.

My Rig:

OS: Vista 64bit Home Premium

Case: GX2-W Silver - Velocity Micro Aluminum Case - Full Sized chassis with side window

Mobo: NVIDIA® nForce 750i chipset, (P5N-D SLI) with DDR2, ATX

PSU: 850 Watt Velocity Micro® Power Supply - Nvidia® SLI™ Certified

CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Quad processor Q9550, quad 2.83GHz cores, 12MB L2 Cache

Cooling: Arctic Cooling® Freezer 7 Pro Heatsink, Ultra Quiet Fan, Copper Heat Pipes

RAM: 8192MB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 Low Latency CL5 Extreme Memory with Heat Spreader

GPU: 512MB Visiontek Radeon HD 4870 GDDR5

HDD: 1TB Hitachi 7200rpm 32MB Cache SATA 300 w/NCQ

Who's offering better cards right now, ATI or Nvidia? And would switching to an Nvidia card cause me problems because of the effects of leftover ATI drivers?

Note: because my motherboard is from Nvidia, it doesn't support Crossfire. I assume it's fine with SLI, but honestly I'd prefer a single card solution anyway. Budget is 200-300 USD, roughly.

Thanks a bunch.

So January has arrived! Any word on the new gen of cards? Are they worth it, or would I be better off with a slightly older card at a cheaper price?

lol there's still a few weeks left until the AMD mid range killers come (HD 7850, 7870).

But right now the absolute best bang for buck card you can get is the Gigabyte GTX 560 TI for $210.

New lines are probably going to cost around $4-500 I would imagine.

I could probably afford to go up a bit from 300, if the performance increase was worth it.
