I made the mistake of getting a 450w antec PSU that came with the case 3 years ago, now it's not enough to handle new vid cards. What PSU should I get that will last through upgrades for the next few years? Is 700w+ what most people are getting for i7 builds? or will a 550-600w be enough to last?

Yeah if you're going for a psu that will last a couple years get a brand one like OCZ or Corsair. And for the amount I'd say around 600W/700W or higher.

PC Power & Cooling makes some excellent PSU's, and if you want something that is future proof maybe 1000W+ that way maybe you decide to sli a couple gtx 295's later on down the road ect.

This is what I would do; go with either Antec or Corsair if you want it to be reliable.

Corsair 750TX is a great choice.
