But now it seems that technology is moving so fast that a second 8800gtx in sli would be pointless, I might as well wait till it can no longer handle games the way I want and get the newest GPU that Nvidia has out at the time. It would probably be faster than 2 8800gtx in SLI. And I could always throw in a second (gtx280?) later, but then a new card will come out.......
8800GTX SLI has a 3dmark score of around 13000 here
And one GTX280 has a 3dmark score of like 14000 here
So yea, 8800GTX SLI doesnt run as well as one GTX according to benchmarks, but it is probably cheaper and can definitely run the latest pc killers like crysis. I have 8800GT SLI and am very pleased with it.
So if you wanna wait go ahead, but 8800GTX SLI is fine for todays games.
Also, unless you're doing stuff at high res (1600 +) I don't think it will be a huge noticeable difference w/ 2 cards.....but then again, Crysis seems to be the exception to that rule lately...... personally I would rather spend a chunk of change on a really kick-*** single card vs. mid-range duals, but thats just me...
