2.2 Mbps BT Great for everything. 1.5Mbps is pretty nippy but there are faster packages out there now. I also need to upgrade.

Mine is 1.5Mbps, it's the fastest DSL I can get at my house, they won't let us get faster =[, I wish we could afford cable again, that's much faster... Mybe in the future...

I usually download at anywhere from 125 to 170Kbps...

::EDIT::
But yes, 1.5Mbps is fine for gaming, I usually have decent ping, and webpages load pretty fast. Make sure to get yourself a nice router, and a nice modem too... If you can possibly go up to 2Mbps, or 2.5MBps, then you should do it, I know SBC has very reasonable DSL prices, with about 5$ different between each speeds' package...

I use SBC, it's pretty good...

Is there a difference between Cable and DSL? Like is 1.5mpb Cable better than 1.5mpb DSL? And like is 5mpb Cable is better than 5mpb DSL? Or is there no difference?

Cable is better and with dsl you would have to connect every time.

1.5Mbit.....but i only see 300kbps because i live too far from my CO. I'm happy though because we only pay $17 a month for it and we used to pay $30 with AT&T :twisted:

um "better" depends on the situation and both Cable and DSL are "always-on" Connections :?

Nevermind I may have been thinking of satellite or something. Anyway Verizon FIOS is the best internet you can have today.

If equal speeds, the DSL is better. At night and on weekend you get "Primetime" on cable where since more overall people are around , your speed will fall

Has anyone u know had a T1 connection in their house? i know this may sound extreme but i have a lot of internet users at home (My dad plays on xbox live sometimes My sister is constantly downloading while playing various MMO's) and when i visit home on the weekends the internet connection is so bogged down. Currently we have 6Mb DSl which is fast but it doesnt seem fast enough when everyone is on the same connection. Does anyone know of T1 price rates in the Los Angeles area?

Verizon Fios is not even available in all areas. Besides, Verizon in still in the process of replacing all the current telephone cables with fiber optic cables, which are much faster in communications.

As long as you have a Router, your automatically connected with some configurations.

I have Verizon DSL 3Mb/s. It's good enough for me, gaming, stream media, downloading.

T1's are VERY expensive. A standard T1 line is 1.544Mbps in and out. It would be cheaper to just add DSL and have 2 subnets, one routing out through the DSL and one through your existing cable service. To get a price for a T1, you'll probably have to get a quote from somewhere, it's probably going to run you at least $350-500 a month though.

I agree get 15mb cable and run wireless, you'll still get 14.5mb/ps speed

Well, i kinda still dont know what CO means and is 1.5 good for gaming? (Just feel like a need a little more input)

And i dont know WHY you would spend $300-$350 a month on internet unless you work for the government or a BIG BIG BIG company.
