I am about get a new laptop for college and want to start pc gaming again (I used to and then quit 3 or 4 years ago when my PC became outdated). I was thinking I might spend about $200 on games. I am wondering what you guys/girls would recomend I want some games which will last me for a while, at least tell christmas maybe longer. BTW the laptop should get a 3Dmark05 score of about 14000. This has the same processor, graphics card, and ram as the one I am getting. http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-9800M-GS.12932.0.html.

BTW I have a ps3, but the only good game which I own that is on the PC is Oblivion.

Thanks everyone

Civilization 4 is about the only PC game made after 2004 which I have (I have a crap load of old games)

So I have decided I will get The Orange Box, Crysis maximum edition when it comes out, Unreal Tournmnet 2004 and 3 {They come to 25 togeather}, Empire: Total War, Grand Theft Auto 4, Call of Duty 4 {4 is better than 5 right}, Bioshock, and Either Get World in Conflict or Company of Heroes {Which On} If I buy some used, or from someon on the amazon marketplace, this should come to around 200 or a little more

I can get gears of war for 20 bucks should I get this also?

What do you think about the selections, and what should I change?

The Orange Box is a must(HL2, HL2EP1, HL2EP2, TF2, PORTAL), Call Of Duty 4. Unreal Tournament 3 (12$ on Steam atm), GTA4 if you're feeling lucky, Crysis, World In Conflict, aso.

It would be a mistake to buy that many games at once unless they are already bargain bin. If you buy $200 in new games full price by the time you get around to the last ones they would likely have cost you half the price, or something better may have been released. Just my 2 cents.

Get Orange Box for sure, then go to a thrift shop, Half Price Books, or amazon and spend your money on used games. Make sure they include the box and manual (for CD keys or proof of purchase to the publisher in case you need a new key), and you're set: same game, half the price [or in many cases, even less than that].

I wouldn't buy more than 1 game at a time. This way you'll get to know what kinds of games you like and which you don't. Plus, by the time you finish playing all your games you could have purchased most of them for huge discounts.

Do you think this would be worth 100 bucks when I can get the orange box with for like 15 bucks used, which comes with the best games in that list?

Don't get the Orange Box used - it's too risky, unlike other games with serials. It would be much more prudent just to pony up the dough and not mess with it, especially if you plan on playing TF2 a good amount.

It all depends I have yet to play the HL games and if you are dead set on playing those then it is a good buy. Along with L4D if you REALLY want to play it then why not go with this pack considering it is still 50 at some stores so L4D+OB= Like 65 or so so your paying $35 for some other great games. Again it is all based on how much you plan on playing the games and if your dead set on lpaying HL. Ask other's opinions and read the reviews for the games incluided. I know that CSS+DoDS+TF2+L4D is fun though.

Well, I have played a lot of games before, just no PC games for a while. I really like every type of game I have played (which is basically all of them except for I have only played one fighting game, and no MMOs), but if I was only going to start a couple what do you think I should start with?

Wait for the price to come down, unless you're crazy about Bethesda games or the Fallout series.

Counter Strike: Source is definately worth looking at, it's fun and will play well on pretty much anything, CS 1.6 also still has an active community and both are available on STEAM pretty cheaply, they're only worth looking at if you want a generic multiplayer shooter though but this is the best of that severly overcrowded genre

I have F3 for the xbox and it is pretty good. And I would only assume it is better with mods. But I agree wait for a sale or a price drop.
