[QUOTE="SPBoss"] lool I have to rub it in guys I have both :PSPBoss

why on earth did you buy a 980x

ok i just read your sig HOLY **** WHY WOULD YOU BUY HALF THOSE PARTS

Because I do a lot of photo-editing and use autocad daily. Plus it makes a killer rig for gaming, its not overkill because my resolution is 3840x1024 Also you ask why.. because I can? :/

Overkill is underrated! Even though it isn't overkill. ;)

I recall seeing your thread on that. You handled it pretty well (no pun intended). I would have been creating a sh&* storm at the delivery center. I know that usually doesn't get you anywhere, but I would definitely feel better. :P I'm glad you had insurance on that thing. Smart man.

Wow. LOL. I never thought I'd see one of those again. That would be a wise choice though. CRTs are awesome.

I thought about asking for a FW900/FD Trinitron G1W, but I'm concerned about the longevity. As much as I love my two current FD Trinitron G1s, one has an iffy flyback transformer and a bias toward red, while the other has a massive green bias. The latter one's still usable with a bit of expert mode color tweaking, but I'll need a colorimeter to use the WinDAS white balance procedure. I've heard similar complaints about the G1Ws. Seems like I'll have to become a CRT technician going forward. These things aren't getting any newer...

3840x1024? why 3 1280x1024 screens?

Windows 7 can't do the screen stretch like XP can and nVidia doesn't support 3 screens for gaming. So unless you're actully gaming over all those screens, the GPU is massive overkill. Shoulda bought a couple 24" instead of that CPU which the 2600K beats in most circumstances, and comes extremely close in others. Not to mention the P67 chipset will support some Ivy Bridge chips. X58 is EOL.

H70 is loud and doesn't beat a good aircooler (it's also more expensive). Why didn't you just buy a watercooling loop...?

Can't understand the Velociraptor. No point really. Your Photoshop files top 100MB?

the soundcard. A Xonar DX or something would have been better since almost no games use EAX nowdays. At least Creative has improved a lot.

No offence but it sounds like a poorly researched build where you could have gotten a rig that performs the same if not better with upgradability and knock off $1000

but then you could buy a ultrasharp or something because that would actually benefit your photoshop/autocad work. believe me i use it for graphic design and it's great

Nvidia does support triple-monitor but you need at least two GPU's, which he has.

I stand corrected then. Gaming across all 3 screens?

Still, 2 1920x1080 beats 3 1280x1024. Could have bought another one or 3 with the savings if he didn't get a 980x

Why does it have Kinect stuck to the bottom of it? :P I'd have the expensive SSD as previously posted because HDDs are the weakest part of my rigs and probably 80% of gamers here who have no SSD.

No. 3 x 1280x1024 > 2x 1920x1080 for gaming.

You don't have a bezel in the middle, which is useless for FPS, Racing games, or really any game.

I would know. I have 2x 1280x1024 and I just mirror them for gaming.

If he likes to play old games, it's still nice to have EAX and ALchemy...though with that sort of budget, I don't get why he didn't go for an Auzentech-built X-Fi instead. The Xonar line and other C-Media-based cards may still have an edge in pure sound quality, but EAX aside, there's also the case of CMSS-3D Headphone vs. Dolby Headphone, and not everyone can agree on which is better (though CMSS-3D Headphone excels in older EAX-compatible games, because they can feed the HRTF with discrete X/Y/Z coordinates for sounds in games instead of having to emulate 5.1/7.1 speaker positions). I just hope there's some good speakers/headphones to justify the presence of that sound card, because as I've found out, it won't make much difference if the hardware that's actually making those sound waves isn't up to par. *back to general thread talk* Speaking of SSDs, aren't there some PCIe ones with 512 GB or so capacities that go for $10,000+? Maybe I should've asked for one of those...just to turn around and sell, as usual.

windows 7 screen stretches just fine as I use triplehead2go, and yes I am gaming over all three screens. Apps/games are now being created to handle multiple cores more efficiently, 6 is better then four for future proofing. watercooling loop? Because its hassle to build and the h70 isnt loud at all when your case has air dampening. Yes one photo can easily hit 100mb because i use a high pixel rate. My Onkyo 7.1 Amplifier supports eax which is the main reason I got the x-fi. I would agree on an ultrasharp but as I play FSX and racers triple monitor is the only way to go (And btw I tried three screens with one gtx 580 and it ran fine, gta maxed out and anti-aliasing mod = 83% usage lol)
