If you are not going to crossfire, get a different board. P35 or something like that.

Save well over $100 just on that alone.

Get Vista 64-bit and get 4GB total ram for less than $100.

Buy a different motherboard that supports SLI, and I'm guessing on your budget that you will be able to offord another GTX260 to throw in there.. I'm looking for one that will suit you right now...

The HD4870 is faster than the GTX 260 and costs a 100$ less.

And i suggest you shop at ncix.com or directcanada.com for better prices.

I already looked at the SLI motherboards.....the 700i's are really buggy and unstable, as I read.......Also, I'm only getting one video card, something powerful, but not overly expensive.....

If you are only buying one video card, get a P35 chipset.

X48 is a good board, but it is high end board designed for Crossfire.

It doesn't make sense to pay extra for a Crossfire board if you are not planning on Crossfiring.

Ok then... 1 more thing, You should get 4GB of RAM instead of 2G (most high-end gaming comps have 4GB or more) also take note- if you are getting 4GB ram or more you need a 64bit OS

ALSO as dayday said.. you should get a P35 mobo or else your just wasting cash on something your not going to use. (crossfire)

If you're going to build a high end rig like that, I would stick with the X48 chipset and grab a HD4870 and maybe another later to take advantage of the X48. Thing is looking good for ATI now so just forget about the GTX 260 as someone already mentioned, why bother to pay $100 more while you can get the HD4870 for $300 with better performance.

Yea, I'd deff reccommend a p35 board, i think sli/crossfire is a waste as your video cards get bumpded down from first place rather quickly considering the cost. Gskill makes some pretty good ram, one 2gb set is 44.99$US (rd heat speaders)and the other is 134.99$US (black heat speaders).Would't bother with a quad core unless you do stuff like 3d modeling, photoshop, video editing or anything of the sort. Go with a 8XXX intel cpu as they are 45nm (less heat produced and less power consumption).

the HD4870 does not support Nvidia Physxcitizen-zero

what exactly is so great about agiea??? they had their tech in gears of war nd did we see any jaw dropping physics?? G oto the nvidia agiea page and tell me exactly what those games did that was so awe inpsiring.

Thank you for your feedback everyone....I understand the point with the ATI cards....they are cheaper, but no physx.....which a feature that I'm willing to pay an extra 100 dollars......there is so much fun to be had with a physx accelerated card....Anyone seen CellFactor? The motherboard is also a good point, why buy crossfire.....but why 4 gigs of ram? I'm not getting vista, I'm going to stick with xp for now, atleast untill DDR3 ram gets cheaper, since 4 gigs of DDR3 ram - 1333 - is like $400.
