okay so here is my build i wanna try and do... its been a few years since i built a pc myself... 6ish actualy :| its just the fact that its 750 before shipping, newegged all the parts and thats no os, meaning i need to go download a good linux build so yeah i feel like a hippo walking on a frozen lake, careful not to slip careful not to break the ice lol

RAIDMAX SMILODON Extreme Black ATX-612WEB 1.0mm SECC Steel ATX Mid Tower Foldout MB Computer Case
RAIDMAX HYBRID 2 RX-630SS 630W ATX12V V2.2/ EPS12V SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Modular Modular LED Power Supply

that should be everything that i need right? its been a while since i built a pc, im still using ide cables for drives lol, no sata yet haha old 32 bit single core sempron is starting to show its age... like really showing its age when spore doesnt even run on lowest settings... i dont need to play every game for next 3 yrs on mondo ultra high or nothing but i figured the bluray would be a nice touch to help future proof it a little bit so at least it will be good burining and surfing rig when it gets old lol

please dont try and tell me to use intel or ati i stick with my amd and nvidea i have for years and wont budge on that haha i just want to know if this looks like a solid build and suggestions are welcome. i dont really want to go any higher on price, since its for me not for sale it is a im trying to spend as little as possible as this will be a loan from my folks most likely to buy the parts.

Do you really need a blu-ray burner? I'm not 100% sure, but I'm fairly sure you don't need that AND a DVD drive (correct me if I'm wrong.). Also, I'd avoid the Green series drives, and get one of the Black ones. They are much faster. Lastly, I would urge you to look at the GTX 460, as it wipes the floor with that 250, and is not all that much more. PS. I don't know much about Raidmax PSU's, you might want to stick to more well known brands like corsair or cooler master.

Two computers ago I used a Raidmax in a system, Dead after about a year of heavy use, this was a few years ago so they could have changed their line up by now.

Other thoughts: then that, I had to splurge and buy a Blue Ray burner for my last PC, wish I wouldn't have, only used it 2 times.

or better still if your budget can stretch a bit consider buying a small solid state hard drive for your system files. There getting more reasonable now and you certainly see the difference (quieter, quicker and less power required)

not to burst your bubble but that is a dead ended system, am3 is the way to go, supports ddr3 and and new processors that will need the am3 platform. but for a budget build its not bad, i want this pc to be a stepping stone so to speak, possible to upgrade at least one more time before the end of its lifecycle, thats why i thought about a bluray player just to keep it able to keep up with the hd generation lol, i feel bad for the saps who put money into hddvd lol. i saw bluray concouring the market as soon as i found out the 360 didnt come with hddvd built in haha, talk about built in cust base with the ps3, but i digress, the main purpose of this machine is to make something that looks nice while running nice so maybe i can get some of my friends to let me build their christmas presents and i will get a little change for my effort lol

Then get a AM3 mothermother and DDR3 then, Also AM3 is also a dead end too by the end of next year , AM3+ will be coming out and only the early models will support AM3 cpu's for a limited time.
