sup, i have 2 games which don't work because of scratches. they are spore and gta iv. they were my 2 favourite games and now i can't play them. i'm wondering if there is any way to install the games by downloading them from somewhere using the product keys, or if there is any good way to remove scratches (i have used toothpaste, didn't work) please help :)

used toothpaste? why the hell would that remedy the situation?

I can't remember the exact rules, or whether it only applies to music, but i think you are allowed to download the ISO's as long as you have an original copy. But im not sure, so don't quote me on that

Wasn't GTA IV a steam only game? I could be wrong. Anyway it is technically illegal to download an iso even if you own the game although I don't see much moral problem there. However you also risk viruses and trojans doing that. What you can do is go to a videogame store (ones that sell used video games are the best shot) and ask about cleaning up the disks. They can spin and polish the disks for really cheap, maybe just a dollar or two and you will have your disks good as new.

It sounds silly, but it actually works.. well visually the scratches are still there but it adds some filler/even coat that pulls the disc through scratched sections.

TC: you should try legitimate scratch removers. If not looks up the EULA in the booklet for legal alternatives... my other suggestion will only break this sites ToU me thinks.

It does work. Don't ask me why, but I've fixed many a scratch that way.

Just try scratch removers. Better yet, take care of your games.

Better yet, back up the disks as soon as you buy them... or go with digital download.

I think taking care of his stuff is the best option ;), some of us don't have the room to back them up and some of us still like our physical copies.
