Is a intel core 2 duo 2.8GHZ decent? Because I know graphic cards need a good CPU to function well in games, im upgrading to a 4770 so I would like to know if the 2.8 GHZ core 2 duo would be a good mix with it

not only is its core speed important but how much its level 2 cache is. if its just 1mb then that 2.8 ghz isnt gonna matter much. if its 2-6 mb then great, and yes that would be a great cpu with a 4770

Not really, a core i5 750 is much faster and will perform a lot better. In a more reasonable price range, there's the core i5 661 which is a dual core processor at 3.1 ghz or something and it easily outperforms that core two duo processor. Look it up.

if its a core 2 duo at stock speed of 2.8ghz, thats probably a e7400. taht chip will rocket along if u combo up with upper middle range (even high end) GPU like a 4870/90 or even a gtx 275. i run a e6400 at 2.13ghz with a 4850 and that thing plays most games all on high.

The i3s and i5 are LGA 1156 socket, a comparison to those is hardly applicable.

A 4770 isn't a high end video card, so that cpu should be a good match.
