Intel pentium dual core e5300

Hey

I just recently bought the intel e5300 processor for my motherboard(intel d945gnt-d945psn) . the problem is there is no post. ive tried the intel pentium 4 and a intel pentium d and both work. my motherboard support dual cores and is EMT64 capable(doesnt supportc2d). My motherboard supports processor with fsb from 533 to 800fsb.

what may be the problem. here the specs

processor:intel p4 ht 3.2 800fsb 2MB L2 cache EMT64 capable

ram: corsair 533mhz ddr2 512MBx2

gpu: evga 7800gtx

psu: 460watt zalman psu.

motherboard: intel d945psn

If it doesn't support c2d cpus, it won't support the e5300.

Man thats serious fail on my part, shelled out 80 big ones on this processor.oh well :| thanksI appreciate the help.

upgrade the BIOS,there is a big possibility that they added c2d support for the motherboard by upgrading the BIOS

just checked the release notes..........none. firmwire is from 8-17-2008. no support for c2d or pentium dual core.

Why not pick up a newer motherboard? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128356 would probably suit your needs, and it has a farily modern chipset and supports C2D CPUs. It's not the best, but considering you're using a 945 chipset board now, it's a nice step up.

okay now ive tried the intel e5300 on my 790i ftw digital pwm and still no post. i switched the button for the processor to on. 1 is for core 2 duo and so on. even if i put it on 1 it still didnt work.
