My internet is twice as fast on Vista than XP. Both have their own partition on my HD and I've just noticed this. Any way to fix this?

LMAO... ur pc has nothing to do with how fast your net is. you probably just got rid of alot of spyware and nasty's slowing you down.

IE is the slowest browser out of them all IMO. or safari on mac, I found that slow too.

I have 3 computers 2 macs and 1 pc running vista/xp on partitions, and vista is faster downloading than all of my computers, it is the os that effects the speed. i am not sure how maybe vista has some ports open that are normally closed, all i know i vista is way faster for no other reason other than being windows vista....

no, vista is not faster. The OS cannot increase the speed of your internet connection. It may be more optimized, or you may have a much better network card or usb ports depending how your set up is that allows you to transfer data quicker then on your old machines. eg: old machine has usb 1.0 ports while vista is using usb2.0 ports. Right there would be a massive data transfer increase....

In Vista my average file download speed is around 400kb/s. In XP and every other version of Windows, It's about half that. I've been wondering why as well.

Lookups should be slightly slowerinVista due to IPv6 but the TCP/IP stack has been optimized.
