Is a 3D TV worth buying now?

No, not enough content heck Avatar 3D isn't even out, some channels don't even have their HD versions out either. Of course this is talking about the average bells n whistles flat panel marked up a ton at your local BB that Joe Blow will want. You could have had a 3D RPTV for years now and it's a great price for the size, also the projectors i happened to get happened to be 3D as well but i haven't tried it, cause like i said i'm waiting for Avatar to buy the glasses.X360PS3AMD05

Ummm...Avatar 3D was one of the first 3D blu-rays, if not the first. It was only included in those 3D glasses kits and is quite expensive.

the best time to buy a new tv is end of feb to april because thats the time new models come out which means last year models drop in price and no matter how much better the new model is its not better when considering price difference

i just bought the panasonic vierra p50vt25 (cnet best tv of 2010) which was 2,899 when it first came out i got it early in the week for 1,699

Avatar 3D came out last November, way after the first 3D movies. Its a promotional item for people who bought panasonic 3D tv's or kits. Which is why its so expensive online.

I got 580's too (see sig) why 720p? maybe you accidently have used hdmi 1.3 Also, I stick to dvi as there is no difference in quality, all hdmi does is carry audio, even that can be done if you buy dvi-dSPBoss

Dual-link DVI cables can do 60hz 3D 1080p.

The current HDMI cables can only do 24hz 3D 1080p, which is only good for movies. So 720p is used for 60hz gaming.

I think that comes down to the fact if your plasma can support dual-link
