good card? Does it meet the needs of todays games (battlefeild 2142, Company of Heros, STALKER, Half Life 2, CS:S), or does it exceed it? Can it play all the modern games on max settings? Finally how long do you expect the life span of this card would be, before i need to upgrade? xfactor19990Its still a good card. Wait a month or so and get a 8800GTS 320mb or a 8600Ultra.

If you can get it for free, you can play ANY DX9 game on max details.Wesker776Yeah, then I would hang on to that card for a couple more months to see what the R600 can do, and the 8600s.

[QUOTE="Generalkill8888"][QUOTE="macpop"]yea i was gonna buy one off hardforums that went for 240$ but i was second for dibs :(macpopThat reminds me, I owe Ebay 80 bucks.. Dang lol y? All those stupid insertion fees that I have to pay for.
Does the 7950 GX2 require an SLI motherboard - or can it work on non-SLI motherboards ?Cyborg-21that's the beauty of it it's SLI on a single card so you only need one PCI-E slot if you had an SLI mobo you could go Quad SLI with it :o
Quad GPU...i dont think thats worth it...cause future game supports DX10 only...rather save money for sli 8 series card...keymaster7So you see the BS that it is :D Unless you game at high res. i say SLI is a waste too
So but for all DX9 games it will run great?xfactor19990not ALL games some games are so piss poorly optomized it can't run it at high settings(Gothic 3fps and R6V for instance) what type of CPU/RAM do you have?
So but for all DX9 games it will run great?xfactor19990For all DX9 games it runs amazingly. But if you look towards the future it really has not hope. If you want to play games with Full AA and HDR get a G80 Series card.

I know thread necromancy is frowned upon, but rather than make a new thread, I thought i'd ask here.
A friend is selling me his 7950GX2 for cheap, and I was wondering about the mobo compatibility because i've done some research and not everyone gets good results if they have the wrong mobo.
I've seen the list, and while some Asus A8N mobos are compatible, mine in particular(A8N-LA) wasnt on the list(its a HP pavilion mobo if youre wondering :P). So I just wanted to know if the "general" mobos w/ PCI-E are compatible with the 7950GX2.
Someone will probably comment on purchasing a 8-series card instead, but ill spare you the life story so just please answer my question ;)

Yeah it can, the 7950gx2 is aabout equal to an 8800gts, I played rainbow six vegas on max, that was really hard, getting 20 fps in a firefight man...
