I'm not, although I will be playing GW2 with it, and may end up leaving ToR for GW2 if it's as good as it's hype suggests.
But it seems like some people around here actually think that ToR will fail...how could this be?
Let's see what ToR has going for it:
1: Bioware and EA. Two of the biggest game developers/publishers in the industry are supporting this game...so funds will be near infinite, along with great experience in the RPG realm from Bioware, and the marketing arm of EA.
2: STAR WARS. I mean, their could be lightsaber shaped dog **** and people would wait in line to buy them...and now there's an MMO in the greatest space story ever told?
3: It's based on the PROVEN formula World of Warcraft created. Yes, the contrarians and angst filled gamers hate on WoW because it's popular...but it's still one of, if not THE most successful game of all time. There's a reason it generated so much success, and Bioware is using what WoW did as a guide in creating their game. For some crazy reason people see this as a negative...but why reinvinte the wheel?
4: The game actually looks good, and brings a lot of unique features to the MMO genre. I know people hate on the graphics and what not...but this is an MMO, it's meant to be played on as many systems as possible. The combat looks good, the classes appear pretty fleshed out, and the unique story elements should help ToR separate itself from all other MMO's out there.
So yeah, I think it's pretty silly to think ToR will fail. Will it have 11 million subscribers day 1? No, of course not. But gamers will flock to ToR and I believe most will be happy with what they find.
ToR's only competition is GW2 honestly...and luckily for ToR, GW2 isn't sub based...so it's not really competing with gamers wallets...so many will end up playing both (like me).
